"Euphoria” Recap: Episode 7 – The Theater and Its Double

Written by Meredith Reilly. Published: February 21 2022
(HBO)

Finally, the episode we have all been waiting for! Lexi’s (Maude Apatow) play hit East Highland High School last night, and wow did it shake things up. Some loved the play, and some hated the play, due to the fact that the play was literally all about them, and even called Our Life. One can understand how some might be upset when they see their personal lives acted out on the stage by their fellow classmates.,, Here are all the highlights from Episode 7!

1. Our Life Characters

Early in the episode, we are introduced to the characters of Our Life, all of whom are dead ringers for Lexi’s circle of friends. First, we have Jade, inspired by Rue (Zendaya). Then, we have Hallie, who is inspired by her older sister Cassie (Sydney Sweeney). Next is Marta, who is inspired by non-other than the queen Maddy (Alexa Demie) herself. We also have Luna, who is inspired by Kat (Barbie Ferreira). Finally, playing Lexi in the play, is Lexi herself! The characters’ reactions to seeing Lexi’s casting of them is prime entertainment.

2. Fexi Fix!

In this episode, we learned that Lexi and Fezco (Angus Cloud) have been talking on the phone almost every day. Their calls consists of light flirting but also Lexi seeking Fezco’s advice on the play and what if people don’t like it. Fezco reassures her that people will love the play and he is going to be there in the front row. How cute?!

3. Suze

The real star of the show wasn’t in the play but in the audience. Suze’s (Alanna Ubach) reactions in the audience were unmatched. When she saw Ethan (Austin Abrams) portraying her up on stage, she let out the loudest laugh we have ever heard, and everyone in the audience heard too. She was so proud to see herself up on the stage and would continually say to the person next to her, “That’s supposed to be me”.

4. Samantha’s Gift

During this episode, Maddy seemed to have quit her babysitting job. While at one of Theo’s practices with Samantha (Minka Kelly), Maddy says how bad she feels leaving Theo, while Samantha tells her it’s good practice for heartbreak. Then, Samantha gives Maddy a present, which appears to be a big bag of clothes, and tells her she has a feeling she’ll like them. And low and behold, it’s some of the clothes Maddy would try on while babysitting.

5. Director Lexi

Lexi was absolutely ruthless in this episode as a director. She had a job to do and she was going to get it done, even if she had to make someone cry to do it. While she did get a little mean sometimes, it was so great watching her come out of the shadows and step into the spotlight this episode.

6. Ethan

Saving the best for last, Ethan killed it this episode. He was the star of the show, literally. He played at least three characters in Our Life, including Suze, Lexi’s Dad, and Nate. The performance he put on was incredible; not only did he win over the crowd on the show, but he also won over the crowd watching at home. Some TikTok users believe he deserves an Emmy, Oscar, and a Tony for his performances, and we agree!

7. Tom Holland?!

Some eagle-eyed TikTok users believe they spotted Tom Holland in the audience of Lexi’s play. It would make sense, considering he has said many times he wants to be on the show, and Zendaya has said they’d find a way to sneak him in there. But what do you think -- is this Tom Holland in the audience?

What an episode last night was, and this doesn’t even cover all of it! The episode ended on a total cliffhanger, leaving viewers wondering why Fez hasn’t showed up to the play yet when we saw him getting ready and even holding flowers, and if Cassie is about to storm the stage. Let’s hope we find out in the next episode, which happens to be the season finale! "Euphoria" is now streaming on HBO Max, with new episodes airing every Sunday night on HBO!
