Will Smith has been nominated for an Mtv Movie Award for Concussion, after being snubbed by the Oscars.

The 47-year-old actor and his wife Jada Pinkett Smith made the controversial decision to boycott the Academy Awards due to a lack of diversity among the nominations. However, Will could well have something to celebrate in the coming weeks after being nominated for Best Male Performance at the upcoming ceremony for his role in Concussion. Michael B. Jordan, who was also left off the Oscars list, is up for the gong as well. They both have some tough competition in the category though, from new Oscar winner Leonardo DiCaprio for The Revenant, Chris Pratt for Jurassic World, Matt Damon for The Martian and Ryan Reynolds for Deadpool.

Ryan's co-star Morena Baccarin features in the Best Female Performance category for Deadpool, while Alicia Vikander is up for Ex Machina, Anna Kendrick for Pitch Perfect 2, Charlize Theron for Mad Max: Fury Road, Daisy Ridley for Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Jennifer Lawrence for Joy.

Daisy is also up for Breakthrough Performance for Star Wars, alongside co-star John Boyega, Amy Schumer for Trainwreck, Brie Larson for Room, Dakota Johnson for Fifty Shades of Grey and O’Shea Jackson Jr. for Straight Outta Compton.

Deadpool, Rocky spinoff Creed, Jurassic World, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Straight Outta Compton and Avengers: Age of Ultron will all be competing for Movie of the Year at the ceremony, which will be taking place on 10 April (16) in California..
