What's up, guys? Leslie Robbins here for Young Hollywood. The NBA All-Star weekend continues from Staple Center. Right now, it is all about the celebrity game.
You got your Creed, Creed 2 moves that for the basketball court. Uh I mean, I can definitely hoop. I'm just not hooping today, you know what I mean? I'm unless my team really absolutely needs me. Other than that, I'm just I'm just taking it easy because I got Creed 2 coming up. I'm not trying to, you know, tweak an ankle, this and that. It kind of sets me back, so I'm trying to be responsible.
So, Common, I was with you in New York at Madison Square Garden in 2015 when we did the celebrity game, All-Star weekend. You're here again. You love participating in this, friend?
Yes, man, this is so much fun. I mean, in all truth, like all us celebrities just trying to play in this game, we obviously have hoop dreams. We we wanted to we thought at some point in our lives that we were going to be NBA players, and it didn't happen. So, this is our chance to get out there like you know, some NBA players watching and our friends are watching. My first love is basketball. I wasn't very good at it, so um I chose golf, and um it worked out, you know. So, um I love the NBA. I love being a part of the NBA and having season tickets and going to the games and um so I'm excited for this.
So, Rachel, you've been here before. So, are you going to change your game this year? What's going to happen on the court?
Okay, so everybody's been telling me that I need to shoot more than I did last year because I passed the ball a lot because I'm more of a team player. So, maybe I'll take that advice and maybe put some more shots up. But, besides that, no, I'm not going to change. We had so much fun last year, and I'm just really excited for it to be in LA this year.
Jonathan Drew, I know we have to talk basketball, but I have this beach house and the kitchen is too small and the living room is crowded. I don't know what to do.
You know what? Forgive the game. We're heading over to your place right now. We're renovating it. Yeah. It's done. It's already done. That's it. This is what's happening right now. You don't realize on the show when we renovate a whole house in one hour, that's real. So, by the time you get home, your house is done.
So, Rachel, you talk about basketball all the time. All day on the jump, and now you have to coach.
Basketball. I I'm it's not good cuz there's going to be a lot of people who are like, "Put me in. No, no, I want minutes. No, whatever." And, you know, a lot of them will be taller than me. So, I'm just sort of waiting to see if Tracy McGrady, my co-coach, can come in and save me because he's 6'8 and if he tells you, "No, no, you're on the bench," I think I think that's good. I think I'm right where I need to be.
You've won medals in the Olympics. You're a sprinter. How does that translate to the basketball court?
It doesn't. Um, it's going to be a little be a little different. Um, it's definitely, you know, sprinting. I'm probably going to have to try to use my fast break to try to get, you know, a couple a couple points, a couple layups. Um, but I'm just looking forward to having fun out here, and I'm excited to be here.
Who are you looking forward to playing with and against?
Um, right now we got a stack team, I think, you know, I'm looking forward to playing with, you know, Quavo, uh Jamie Fox, property brothers, so you know, a couple of those guys. I had a team practice yesterday with them, so it was pretty fun.
What skills from construction and decorating can you bring to a basketball court?
I can box out like no one's business. Wait, that's You don't you don't I was trying to think. Yeah, so I was trying to think way to put it in there.
I I think uh for me, I usually let Jonathan do all the down and dirty work, and while he's renovating, I'm usually at the basketball court. So I mean, usually I'm dunking paintbrushes. Today, you know, we're dunking basketball. It's exactly the same thing. Not a big deal. Honestly, it's about putting on a show. It's the celebrity game. It should be about entertainment. We should have fun. We should try cool moves. Maybe that we can't finish. You know, and like have a good time. Pass each other the ball. Like, make sure nobody gets hurt.
We just want to see um as a fan, we want to see just greatness, and we want to see them some heroics, I guess, some dunks that we all love to see, and then um we want to see some crazy shots. I remember when Magic Johnson, some of those shots that he made behind the arc when he his last All-Star game. Um, so Steph Curry can do that Magic too, you know, so it's fun to watch.
Anyway, we have a lot of height, and then on our team, we have all this, and then we have Miles from Black-ish. He's he's like at my waist level. I had a brilliant idea for the dunking competition. Drew should infuse some of his Dancing with the Stars moves, make it unique that way. Then toss Miles from the three-point line. Miles does a flip, dunks it, you would break every record in the NBA. This is it. We're doing this. Look out for that.
You are at the top of your career. The kids here were with junior NBA. What advice would you give to the kids that want to be a pro in basketball, golf, any sport?
Oh, it's practice. It's dedication. It's it's trust in your goal. You know, get that goal that you want to obtain and and stick with it. And you're going to have setbacks, but you got to go forward. And um, I've had many setbacks, and um, it's just hard work. Hard work and dedication. Any any superstar that you see walking through here has had dedication and drive and practice to get where they are.
