Jesse Eisenberg, Justin Timberlake and Andrew Garfield have taken over the box office - their movie The Social Network has debuted at number one with a gross of $23 million.
The film, directed by David Fincher, chronicles the early days of social networking website Facebook.com.
And it proved to be a big hit with cinema-goers at the weekend (01-03Oct10), befriending film fans and forcing last week's top choice, animated adventure Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole, to fly down into second place with $10.9 million.
Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps is at three with $10.1 million, while Renee Zellweger and Bradley Cooper's horror Case 39 failed to entice viewers and enters at number seven with $5.35 million.
