Guest: (upbeat music) (techno music) How we met Ariana Grande, she was in the garage knitting, and I came in the garage and she was there and I didn't know who she was and I was like hey, what's up scarf lady? Second guest: She was like, do you want one? (laughing) Guest: I was like yeah, she never made me one. (laughing) (hiphop music) Hey what's up, this is Mikey And Scootie. And we're Social House. And this is our backstage diary. Backstage. Got your pass? (jazz music) Realistically anything could happen today. Wah! I started just to party-arty. You look back and see me back here like-- (laughing) I'm sorry (laughs). Social House started when my mommy and my daddy liked each other a lot.

We met briefly in Pittsburgh because we're both from Pittsburgh. We were like oh, you're pretty dope. You're pretty dope too. We ended up, by chance, meeting back up in LA. We ended up signing to the same production house. We started to work together in the studio all the time. We just wanted to have some songs that we didn't sell to anybody that we just wanted to have fun doing ourselves that told our side of the story. We wanted to bring people into our house. Tommy Brown wrote Social House on the whiteboard which was the name of the wifi, and we were like, let's do it. Scootie is actually one of the most talented human beings ever. He writes, he produces and he also sings.

It takes a lot of the pressure off whenever we're making songs cause you know that Scootie's gonna have a dope idea so it's like, I have a dope idea, he has a dope idea, mix it together, you got a dope little cake. Mikey brings all the energy. Mikey is amazingly talented. He produces and writes and sings. He's a nerd with techie stuff so all of my settings are his settings. My background influences my music in that I've been exposed to a lot of different kinds of music. Fleetwood Mac, Maroon 5, Journey, Hans Zimmer, the Fugees. It doesn't matter, I like everything. That's what makes me want to include everybody in my music. We have the most random songwriting process known to man.

First of all, it could be a voice memo. It could be we were playing with drumsticks on a pool table and started making a beat and then decided to do something weird out of it. So the songwriting process is always random but it always got slap. For Thank You Next and 7 Rings, we weren't even there to actually make music, we just went to support our friend and be there for our friend. We've known Ari for years and she was going through a really tough time so we just wanted to be there for her, we care a lot about her. And it turned into making music. Because I mean, that's what we all do. It helped her with her spirit during that time.

I like working with Ari because she's literally the hardest working person. She's like a good definition of a real artist. The way we found out we were going on tour is she looks at us and is like, how would you guys like to go on tour with me? We look at each other and we're like, and do what? (laughing) She's like, open up. When would we say no? My favorite moment about being on stage is enjoying the energy that's there. Everybody's there to have fun and really take a load off of their life and jump around and smile and think about some stuff that makes them happy and we wanna celebrate who you are as people who enjoy these with us.

Our pre-show ritual, we do push-ups for every show and we add a push-up every show. The last show we did was fifty. (laughing) Yeah, we did that, we got stronger. Haunt You for me means a couple things. In a large way it's about relationships whenever you first start fallin' for somebody how they take up your whole mind you kind of become overwhelmed and saturated with that thought. It becomes something beautiful to you that haunts you.

A little over a year ago my father was diagnosed with ALS and I feel like I'm finally getting that opportunity to be this close with my father but at the same time it's like this looming cloud over my head that I'm like saying goodbye to my father and I have to watch him become SLS. It's beautiful but at the same time it's like haunting. About a year ago my sister passed away. She's in a better place and there's nothing I can do that's better than that and so I had to almost change my perspective to give her to God almost. It's like something as well, something beautiful that haunts you. I think about you all the time but I know you're happy so, much love.

My biggest goal for Social House is to still be doing this ten, twenty years from now and still having the same amount of fun. Even if we weren't really doing music as a profession, we'd probably still be doing it, cause we love it. (techno music)
