Shakira & Karol G Collab "TQG" Reaches 600 Million Views!
Colombian singers Karol G and Shakira are celebrating their success -- the music video for their epic collaboration song “TQG” has reached 600 million views on YouTube!
The song's music video has now amassed 600 million views on YouTube, making it Karol’s 13th and Shakira’s 15th music video to do so. The music video was released with the single on February 23 of this year, and the video has also amassed 7.7 million likes and 262,097 comments as of this writing. An incredible achievement for both singers!
The 6th track off of Karol G’s newest album Mañana Será Bonito, "TQG" was released as a single for the upcoming album back in February of 2023. The song was also a significant surprise for many fans, as Karol G had said there were no features on the track.
"TQG" shook the Latin music charts, debuting at number 1 on the US Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart, a first for Karol and a 13th for Shakira. On the US Billboard Hot 100, it peaked at number 7, another big first for Karol, and a 6th time for Shakira. "TQG" stayed within the Top 40 for seven weeks, and remained within the Top 100 for another eleven!
The name "TQG" is actually an acronym for the phrase “Te Quiero Grande”, which translates to "I love you a lot." The two come together to sing about an ex, who is trying to come back into their lives post-breakup. Prior to the release, both singers had large public breakups. It is rumored that the song is heavily directed towards ex-boyfriends Anuel AA and Gerard Piqué.
Now Karol G is preparing for her U.S. tour in support of the new album, Mañana Será Bonito, which begins later this Summer on August 11th. Meanwhile, Shakira is dropping a short film with latin singer Manuel Turizo, which will be released on YouTube on June 29 at 8pm EST!
