One Direction: This Is Us, featuring Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, Harry Styles, Niall Horan and Liam Payne, took an impressive $5.2 million over the weekend (30Aug-01Sep13).
The pop group saw off competition from last week's number one, futuristic thriller Elysium, which took $1.8 million. and comedy We're The Millers, with $1.7 million.
The top five is rounded out by crime movie Pain & Gain ($1.5 million) and animated comedy Planes ($1.1 million).
