Actor Max Minghella has recruited Elle Fanning to star in his directorial debut.
The Maleficent star will play an aspiring Eastern European teenager with dreams of becoming a pop star in Minghella's Teen Spirit.
The Social Network star Minghella, the son of late Oscar-winning filmmaker Anthony Minghella, also wrote the screenplay.
"It’s an absolute thrill to be collaborating with Elle on this project," he says. "Along with an extraordinary singing voice, she brings an emotional complexity to this character which is invaluable."
