Demi Lovato had a great start to the MTV Video Music Awards in Los Angeles on Thursday (06Sep12) - she was a winner and a performer before the ceremony even got underway.
The actress/singer sang for fans outside the Staples Center before the show started and discovered she had won the first honor of the evening.
Her promo for Skyscraper was voted Best Video With a Message.
Thrilled Lovato said, "I've always watched the VMAs growing up and now I'm holding one; this is crazy."
