5 Things We Learned from 'Olivia Rodrigo: Driving Home 2 U'!

On March 25, Olivia Rodrigo: driving home 2 u (a SOUR film) was released on Disney Plus and let’s just say it’s worth the watch. During the documentary, Olivia Rodrigo invites fans to take the passenger’s seat on her road trip from Salt Lake City to Los Angeles, revisiting all her songs from SOUR along the way.

Here is everything we learned from the film!

1. Where SOUR Was Written

Olivia let fans in on where she actual wrote the album and -- spoiler alert! -- it was between Los Angeles and Salt Lake City! Salt Lake City is where “High School Musical: The Musical - The Series” films, so it makes sense that Olivia spent a lot of time writing there as she plays the lead character Nini on the hit show.

2. She Didn’t Like "Happier" At First

In the documentary, Olivia shared that she hated her song "happier" at first and thought it was terrible. However, she had a feeling to keep going and it’s good thing she did because she said this song changed everything for her! Because of "happier", producer Dan Nigro found her and they then went on to make SOUR together.

3. She Always Felt Too Young

One reason Olivia was so intent on getting her drivers license was because she always felt too young for her boyfriend at the time. She felt that he should be with someone with more liberties than she had. However, when they broke up and she got her license, she shared what a great feeling it was and like she was taking her power back.

4. Her Label Wasn’t Sure About An Album

A week after "drivers license" was released, she called her label and said she was going to make an album. At first, her label was not too sure if that was the right move, but Olivia was dead set on it, and boom, SOUR was born. She wanted to use the momentum she had from the success of "drivers license", and we are so thankful she did. We bet her label is pretty pleased as well!

5. "Deja Vu" Almost Didn’t Come Out

The second song she released after "drivers license" was "deja vu", which she almost didn’t put out. Olivia’s reasoning for why she didn’t want to release it was because of all the hate and negativity that surrounded "drivers license". She shared that she didn’t want to feed into all of the drama. However, "deja vu" has a powerful message that a lot of girls going through breakups can relate to, so in the end the song helped a lot of people.
