Singer Rita Ora is partnering with bosses at the Absolut liquor company to launch a new initiative to raise awareness about immigrants' struggles.

The Hot Right Now hitmaker is asking fans, who are refugees or immigrants, to submit their stories to be used in a song created by Ora for the Open Mic Project. The singer will be accepting submissions until 1 December (17).

"As a refugee, I know firsthand how isolating it can feel to be misrepresented in the face of adversity," a statement from Ora reads. "I'm excited to join Absolut with The Open Mic Project because we're using music as a way to bring people together.

"From sharing my own story to spotlighting others, we're bringing the issue of acceptance to a global stage and changing today's current chat to be more inclusive."

The 26-year-old's family left their native Kosovo in 1991 out of fear of persecution. They relocated to London, England, where Rita was raised.
