The actress' lawyers have filed suit against executives at Marketing Advantages International, a company which runs accessories and costume jewelry site Emitations.com.
In one online advert, an image of the Oscar winner posing with her hand to her face - showcasing a huge diamond ring, has been used.
The suit is seeking damages for exploiting Witherspoon's name in a bid to boost sales, according to TMZ.com.
