Reese Witherspoon recovering at home after car accident

Reese Witherspoon was hospitalized on Wednesday (07Sep11) after she was hit by a car while jogging.

The Walk the Line star was running in Santa Monica, California when she was mowed down by a vehicle motoring along at approximately 20 miles per hour, according to police reports.

She was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital, where she received treatment for minor injuries.

A statement from her representative reads, "The actress was not seriously injured and is resting comfortably at home."

According to EOnline.com, the driver was an 84-year-old woman who was cited for failure to yield to a pedestrian.
