Prince William and Kate Middleton have asked their wedding guests to donate money to good causes instead of buying them gifts, with some of the cash earmarked...
They have asked instead for donations to be made to a charitable fund, which will distribute the money to their favourite good causes, including New Zealand's Christchurch Earthquake Appeal, founded in the aftermath of last month's (Feb11) massive tremor, which left more than 160 people dead. William is due to visit the region later this week (beg14Mar11).
A statement from Buckingham Palace reads, "Having been touched by the goodwill shown them since the announcement of their engagement, Prince William and Miss Middleton have asked that anyone who might wish to give them a wedding gift consider giving instead to a charitable fund."
