Osment lands role in Frankenstein project

Former child star Haley Joel Osment is to take on a spooky new role in an upcoming horror movie inspired by Frankenstein.

Haley Joel Osment, who shot to fame in 1999 thriller The Sixth Sense, has been on hiatus since studying at college but he's stepping back into the spotlight to play Victor Franklin, a student who tries to reverse death, in Wake The Dead.

Producer Rob Eric insists the 23 year old has been perfectly cast, telling Variety.com, "This role allows him to break out of his shell and he will have no problem handling it."

The Frankenstein-themed film, based on the graphic novels by Steve Niles, will be co-produced by former Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash through his new Slasher Films company.
