LeAnn Rimes and Burt Reynolds to play father and daughter

Leann Rimes is to play Burt Reynolds' daughter in a new TV movie.

The singer will show off her acting talents in Reel Life, playing a woman who returns to her hometown to care for her cranky father after he has a heart attack.

Reynolds will play her ageing dad, who snubs her advice to exercise and eat healthy food - because all he wants to do is go fishing.

The film is set to debut on TV network CMT on 13 November (11).

It is not Rimes' first foray into acting - she has previously appeared in the TV shows Drop Dead Diva and Days of Our Lives, while she met her current husband, actor Eddie Cibrian, on the set of 2009 TV movie Northern Lights.
