Eva Longoria and Diane Keaton are urging fans to slap on sunscreen this summer (15) as part of a campaign to prevent skin cancer.

The actresses have teamed up with bosses at beauty brand L'Oreal Paris and the Melanoma Research Alliance (MRA) for a health awareness drive, which encourages sun-lovers to protect their skin.

In a print advert, skin cancer survivor Keaton, writes, "I was 21 when I was diagnosed with skin cancer. It didn't seem like a big deal. But it happened again, and again, and again. Finally I got the drift and started to wear sunscreen."

In a video message, Longoria says, "Growing up in Texas I never gave sun safety much thought. Given my Latina heritage, my tanner skin never burned and I assume I wasn't at risk. Today I know that all skin types need to be protected from melanoma, it's the deadliest form of skin cancer and one of the most common cancers among women under 40. Now I know to never forget my sunscreen and neither should you. Regardless of your age or skin type, join me in a nationwide movement to prevent melanoma... "

Supporters are urged to film themselves talking about why skincare is important and upload it to social media with the hashtag #itsTHATworthit. For every video, L'Oreal Paris bosses will donate $1 (60p) to the MRA.
