But executives at Summit Entertainment are reconsidering plans to shoot on location after last weekend's (21-22Aug10) epic gun battle between heavily armed drug gangs and police.

Thirty five civilians were taken hostage by gang members at Rio's InterContinental hotel on Saturday (21Aug10) and the siege gave way to a massive gun fight which ended in 10 arrests and one death, while four policemen were wounded.

The violence has now prompted Twilight producers to reconsider plans to film in Rio and executives at Summit are said to be in talks with city officials, who are attempting to persuade movie bosses the area will be safe for the filming to take place, according to AFP.
