Acclaimed singer Adele was almost kicked out of London's revered BRIT school for her tardiness - because she was often too tired to get to classes on time.

The Rolling in the Deep singer was a popular student at the school which helped launch the careers of Leona Lewis and Amy Winehouse - but she wasn't always a teacher's pet, thanks to her penchant for lateness.

She tells Rolling Stone magazine, "I'd turn up to school four hours late. I was sleeping. I wasn't doing anything... I just couldn't wake up."

But her tardy ways were tested when she was selected to perform at a festival - and missed the bus.

She recalls, "My heart exploded in my chest. It was pretty horrible. I almost did get kicked out of school for that. Now I'm always on time."
