Katy Perry's brother: 'She deserves a true gentleman'

Katy Perry's brother doesn't have high hopes for the pop star's on/off romance with singer/songwriter John Mayer, insisting his sister deserves a "true gentleman".

David Hudson admits he has his sibling's best interests at heart when it comes to romance and he appears not to be thrilled she's dating Mayer after spending much of this week with the one-time womaniser in New York, and attending his 35th birthday party on Tuesday (16Oct12).

The I Kissed a Girl singer's brother tells Life & Style magazine, "She deserves a true gentleman, and I don’t think she’s found that."

And it seems Perry's idea of the perfect man differs from the guy her brother David would choose for her: "Katy needs a man who's changing the world like she is - although not necessarily in the business, just someone that's really got something impressive."

Hudson admits he tries to give his sister, who ended her marriage to Russell Brand at the end of 2011, romantic pointers, but she's not interested: "She shrugs it off because she's her own person. She's very independent."
