Actor/director Jon Favreau is planning to donate a $25,000 cash prize he won for his new movie Chef to a New York City food rescue charity.

The filmmaker premiered the movie, in which he stars as a chef who launches his own food truck after losing his restaurant, at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York last week (22Apr14) and it was named the winner of the Heineken Audience Award for Best Narrative Film on Saturday (26Apr14).

He has since revealed the funds will be going towards City Harvest, a group which aims to provide fresh produce for poverty-stricken residents across the Big Apple.

Alan Hicks was also handed a check for the same amount for his film Keep On Keepin' On, which claimed the audience vote for Best Documentary.
