Joel Madden lands Logie Award for The Voice
Joel Madden sealed his status as an Australian TV star by scooping a top prize at the prestigious Logie Awards Down Under on Sunday (07Apr13).
The Good Charlotte star was voted Most Popular New Male Talent for his judging role on the Aussie version of TV singing show The Voice, while the hit contest was also named Best Light Entertainment Program at the ceremony in Melbourne.
Accepting his trophy, Joel Madden thanked fellow panellists Seal,
Delta Goodrem, Keith Urban and Ricky Martin, adding, "The Voice is
a show that I believe in. I'm happy to be a part of exposing
Australian singers and Australian songwriters to the world - I love
Australian music. I just want to thank Australia for being so good
to me."
He later tweeted, "Thanks for the Logie Australia. I owe you for
this one. Everybody who voted I really am humbled. Thanks for this,
it means a lot to me."
The evening's other big winner was Offspring star Asher Keddie, who
landed the coveted Gold Logie as well as her third consecutive
Silver Logie for most popular actress, while singers Michael Buble
and Bruno Mars performed onstage.
