What's up? What's up? It's your boy Trey Songz, baby. And you are watching Young Hollywood, you see it? We're on the set of my video, "Yo Side of the Bed," and it's starting right now. I'm gonna take you out through the whole process, but right now I gotta things tend to, so we'll be back.
Hey Young Hollywood, it's Michelle Marie. I'm here on the trailer with Trey Songz, R&B sensation on the set of your video for "Yo Side of the Bed." Tell me how it's been so far.
Uh, it's been great. Uh, Keri Hilson's playing my leading lady, actually my wife.
You see. Wife-y?
Yeah. Married for the day.
Yeah. How does it feel?
Ah, it feels weird. I'm dedicated.
You're dedicated.
But uh, you know, it's been great so far. She's really uh taken the role very seriously as have I. And it's been going down very well, very smoothly. When you come home, girl, you should know. Your girl is waiting. Girl on yo' side of the bed. Oh, on yo' side, come.
I have to say, this concept is pretty intense. I mean, it's it's a pretty, pretty deep meaning. Tell me about the whole concept behind the video.
Oh, well, if you if you listen to the song, it it speaks on uh a person you love being missing from your life and specifically yo' side of the bed. Uh their side of the bed, excuse me. And uh it it never draws on why, it never tells you why it like reasons of infidelity are use usually uh in these songs or, you know, uh somebody doing somebody wrong. But in this in this song, we kind of left it open. Therefore, when the video came, you know, we wanted to pay respects to the troops out there. And, you know, they deal with this, losing someone to uh to to combat or losing someone to deployment, even if they come home, it's still a sense of loss. You know, and I actually play uh a father and and a husband and Keri actually plays the spouse that's going.
The soldier. That's interesting. Usually it's reverse, you know?
Yeah. I mean, that's the way that's the way society uh make sure it's it's seen in most cases, but the truth of the matter is there are men that go through this situation and uh I wanted to make sure we showcased their feelings here, too.
I saw it when you're out there, you were spinning on this whole thing. Tell me how that all worked. What scene was that?
I was I was dizzy.
You're dizzy?
Yeah, I was very dizzy. It was spinning. It was spinning. Yeah, I was singing very fast. Like, you know, when the the faster you sing in in videos, the it means it's usually slow-mo. Very passionate. That was uh one of the master performance scenes. We actually shot another master performance where uh you see Keri running in the morning. And uh she runs past me and it's kind of like a an eerie thing. You don't know if she's there or if I'm there or what's going on.
What now uh made you decide to have Keri Hilson, you know, in your video? And she's, you know, she's not really part of the song, but she plays, you know, this character for you.
Wow, cuz she she's an amazing woman, you know, visually. As an artist, she is as well. And I know she's trying to expand into acting as as we all are. Uh and I figured it'd be a beautiful look for myself.
How long have you guys been together?
Well, if you count the time it took to get her to go on a date with me, three years and seven or eight months.
Did you do anything to prepare for this whole acting scene that you're doing?
Oh, most definitely. We read up on it. Keri and I actually had phone calls back and forth all throughout this week. She's been uh talking to people from army wives and we've been looking at different clips and things. So we definitely want to make sure that we got the the exact emotion across and and depicted all that we wanted the people to see.
You know, you're blowing up the airwaves right now, especially with your two songs with Drake. I hear them all the time. Tell me how it's how it's felt like just hearing your song on the radio all the time and the success you've had so far.
Uh, you know, I I've worked very hard to get where I am right now and it's a a sense of uh, you know, gratification. A sense of uh hard work paying off. And at the same token, it it makes me want to work harder. Right. It makes me want it more. It's like a drug, the more you get it, the more you want.
Addictive.
Yeah. Exactly. So, uh, I'd like to thank my fans out there. I'd like to thank Young Hollywood out there for supporting me and, you know, it's uh, it's more to come for me. You know what it is? It's your boy Trey Songz and this is Young Hollywood and I'd like to thank y'all for kicking it with me throughout the video. Much love, baby. Deuces.
