Rob Corddry

Hi, I'm Rob Corddry and I'm in a movie called Escape From Planet Earth. And he likes the song Single Ladies.

Young Hollywood

Hi, Rob Corddry, how are you? Good to see you again. I don't know if you remember this, but the last time we talked, you was at Comic-Con.

Rob Corddry

Yes. I was wearing a Green Lantern uni. Yep. Unihard. And you almost impaled yourself on the Batmobile.

Young Hollywood

On the Batmobile. Uh, that's right. Do you remember that?

Rob Corddry

I sure do. How do you forget? I've seen it. I've seen the video. Uh, I actually did hurt myself on the Batmobile.

Young Hollywood

Did they give you the Batmobile as compensation?

Rob Corddry

No.

Young Hollywood

We need to talk to somebody. Doesn't seem like an even trade for them. I feel like legally that would be a tough one, right?

Rob Corddry

It would be a tough one. But I would take it.

Young Hollywood

You would take it. Yeah, who doesn't want the Batmobile? And you could just take it out into outer space. How's that for a transition into a movie called Escape From Planet Earth?

Rob Corddry

That's right. You're thinking of the Batplane. That's what it is. You're thinking of the Bat Jet.

Young Hollywood

All right, I have a quick little game for you. It's called Escaping From Planet Earth.

Rob Corddry

I'm going to ask you, Where'd you get that title? I wonder.

Young Hollywood

If you were escaping from Planet Earth and could only bring certain items. Go ahead. One cosmetic item.

Rob Corddry

Toothpaste. Okay. Does that count as a cosmetic or is that hygienic? It's more hygienic. It's more hygienic. Then, um, oh, oh, a fingernail clipper.

Young Hollywood

Okay, that counts. One song on your iPod.

Rob Corddry

Single Ladies. I would probably not bring Single Ladies. I have a trick answer. The second side to Abbey Road, which is one song.

Young Hollywood

Nailed it! Nailed it! Nailed it! That's incredible. That's incredible. One item of clothing.

Rob Corddry

These are really great jeans. I've never had a pair of jeans that fit me better. So, these very jeans.

Young Hollywood

Okay. And an unlimited supply of blank.

Rob Corddry

I mean, hotdogs, right?

Young Hollywood

Of course. Of course, hotdogs are delicious. And one other actor as a travel companion.

Rob Corddry

I don't like actors very much. But if I had to bring one, I would say you know, Beyoncé is acting. Well, I mean,

Young Hollywood

Well, sort of. No, I Has she?

Rob Corddry

You can't really go wrong with Clooney. I feel like that's such a lame answer though.

Young Hollywood

Yeah. You're going to want to bring Clooney with you to to Italy. Like not maybe to another planet. Of course. Well, he's got all the hookups there.

Rob Corddry

I think Clooney might like, that might be the one place where he's like, I'm not good at this. I'm out. Yeah, and it wouldn't be as fun. I'm just going to keep talking until something great. Happens. Bring in Beyoncé. And on that note,

Young Hollywood

Yeah, Beyoncé. Yeah. Neil Patrick Harris. There you go. Nice one. It's just right there on the screen. That was a gimme. Okay, so can you be honest with me? Did you take this movie? Did your agent call you and say, hey, I got a movie for you with Sofia Vergara, Jessica Alba, and Sarah Jessica Parker. And you were like, done. And then you realized it was you weren't going to meet them because it was voiceover.

Rob Corddry

Uh, you know, uh, yes and no. Uh,

Young Hollywood

How did it go down?

Rob Corddry

None of it happened that way. But, uh, yes. It was kind of a bummer to be part of such a great cast and not get to work with them. Get to work with them.

Young Hollywood

But have you all because you all had a premiere the other night. Did you all sort of get together and like what happens when you've sort of done it separately and then you see each other, you go, "Oh, we're all in the same movie together."

Rob Corddry

It's a little awkward. It's not usually how human beings meet. But it's cool. I mean, you immediately have something to connect on. Yes.

Young Hollywood

I mean, what do you say to Sofia Vergara when you're meeting her for the first or a Jessica Alba?

Rob Corddry

You know what I said to Jessica Alba was, hi, nice to meet you. We were in a movie together. And she's like, that's right. We were in a movie called The Ten, which is a very funny comedy. We had no scenes together.

Young Hollywood

I can imagine. But, yeah, and it's I know, right? I know. No, I read that you said like when you first got on set, because you'd never really done an animated. You'd done a small part in I think another one. Yeah, I agree. But this was your sort of first lead. That it was actually really uncomfortable to go to work in your street clothes and have nobody to work off of. It's probably a bit of a strange sort of adjustment.

Rob Corddry

It's not the way I'm used to doing things. Yeah, uh, but it's honestly though, like there there's there's way harder jobs than that. Way harder. You know, like they just love talking about how hard their job is. They're so hard done by. It's pretty

Young Hollywood

What do you think would be the most sucky job for If we're going down that road.

Rob Corddry

Oh, I had it. I had it before. I worked for a toxic waste cleanup facility. Uh, my job was basically to put on a Tyvek suit and get a like a vacuum a tube out of a vacuum truck and clean up toxic waste.

Young Hollywood

Well, if you ever need to go That's a hard job. No, I can imagine. If you ever need to go back to it, I have a Green Lantern costume that's on sale right now.

Rob Corddry

I think I'd get made fun of. And or beat up.

Young Hollywood

So, aliens, do you believe? Are you a believer?

Rob Corddry

Oh my God, am I a Yeah. No. It's I don't know. I'm hopeful, right?

Young Hollywood

If you could have any first contact, what could sort of set the stage for me? What would it be like?

Rob Corddry

It's so impossible to comprehend even in a funny way. I hope I make a good first impression. Right. That said, I should not be the ambassador. You know, I should not don't it should not be me. You want to say, what do you, you know, how do you

Young Hollywood

Yeah. We actually have a friend that that consults for NASA. The one thing he's pushing is that like instead of just math equations that we are sending out, why not like put a joke in there? Because humor is universal, right? I mean, cuz it's so subjective.

Rob Corddry

That's the kind of pressure I I can't I can't handle.

Young Hollywood

Well, speaking of jokes, I saw on your on your Twitter something about like you had a really hard time making fun of the halftime at the Super Bowl because it was too good. Like there were no mistakes. There were no like wardrobe malfunctions. Did you enjoy yourself a little, Beyoncé?

Rob Corddry

Yeah. I did. I mean, God, I want to make fun of it so bad. It's my bread and butter. Right. Um, you know, uh, but really it was it was pretty good. It was good. And then Destiny's Child did the Single Ladies dance with her. I mean, that's pretty satisfying.

Young Hollywood

It really was. It was something you were just waiting for. I mean, come on. We didn't know we wanted to see that, but we we saw it. We loved it. I mean, I actually got goosebumps and I got a little teary. I got to be honest. It was a happy reunion.

Rob Corddry

It was not fun for me in that I liked it.
