What's going on guys? I'm Molly Argu for Young Hollywood and today we are at the Dream Hollywood Hotel in this fantastic gym with the one and only Gunner Peterson.
Wow, huge intro. Thank you.
Well, it's great to finally meet you because I've heard so much about you and I've seen you in just about every single magazine.
Oh, you're reading uh, you're reading a lot.
So, I'm wondering what makes your workout regime, your workout training so special?
I think the workout has to be put together bearing in mind the time constraints, because the one thing I hear from people is, I don't have enough time. I don't have enough time to get my strength training, my cardio training, my flexibility, my movement, I want sport specific, I want functional. And if you piece something together in a way that they can move from uh, movement to movement without having any downtime or as little downtime, then you're going to create a cardiovascular effect, an aerobic effect, you're going to burn body fat and you're also going to work the major muscle groups of the body, plus you can add different planes of motion, so functionally it will serve you.
Young Hollywood likes to keep it fun, so we have a game called, How To Workout Like A Celeb. Now, I know you have a lot of celebrity clients. I've seen lots of posts on Instagram. Everyone loves you.
It's a love hate. It's a fine line.
So, I have some names here of people I know you've trained. Can you just give us a little demonstration of um, when I mention their name, what, like your go-to training movement is that you put into their workout. So, the first person I'm wondering is Sophia Vergara.
Uh, anything squat or lunge related.
Can we do a little demo? Not because I need to work on my, my squats. Is that a squat or is that some kind of
You're better than that, I promise. Wow. If you reach and pretend there's something you're reaching over a barricade or you're reaching down to pick up a basket and you pop back, you're going to target more glutes. So, kind of
And now pop back fast. Oh.
Step to it, touch, pop back. Yep.
Okay. More glutes. Wow. That's a different type of
Reaching lunge. Functional. It's a more functional movement.
Lunge than I ever did. Number two, the Kardashians.
Squats. Then I do some squats and after that I probably finish with some squats. Some squats. It's the king of all exercises according to the National Strength and Conditioning Association. It's a multi-joint movement. People say I can't squat. I say, well, you probably can. I mean, maybe you can't load double your body weight on your back and drop all the way down to parallel, but you probably can do some form of that movement and drive up. Down deep. Up, drive through the heel.
How's that? Eight more. We're all giddy. Sorry. Okay, I'm going to be here all day guys. We'll see you later. Of course, all right. What about Hugh Jackman?
Oh, I haven't seen him in years.
Yeah?
He has his own trainer in New York, so I would never take credit for that. Anything from a conditioning standpoint, I would put movements together. Okay. Right? So it might be a curl press or a curl press down. Oh. That kind of little adding a little rear lunge. Just because the conditioning is why he looks so great. He's so well conditioned. Yeah. Yeah.
This is insane. I've never been in a hotel gym that is number one this nice or number two has your name on it. So can you fill us in?
That's the first for hotel gyms, this is the first with the name on it. The people of the Dream were looking at continuing their brand layering, which they've done so well in this hotel and they tapped us on the shoulder and said, would you do a Gunner gym at the Dream? And I said, that's a great idea. Yeah. And how could I not? And they allowed us uh, enough latitude to put what we thought their guests would use, because this is a this is a different kind of hotel guest. This is a guest that may go out late at night, uh, may indulge, but they also push hard when they're in the gym. So, instead of
They want to look good.
Yeah, they do. And and they'll, you know, it's play hard, work hard. And I think, I think there's a big target audience of that. I don't think it's just people who only party or people who only work out. I think there's a big crossover in that and I think the Dream recognized that and they allowed us to do what we do in gym design and and we put together something that's fun and you can get a terrific workout in here.
All right, guys. Well, now you've seen the Gunner Peterson workout. I'm drenched in sweat. So that's a wrap.
