What is going on guys? Nicole Kotch in the Young Hollywood studio hanging out with Brooklyn Beckham. This is your first time in studio. I hope we make a good impression on you. First time. I love what you're wearing by the way. I feel like it's very fashionable.
Thank you.
It's because you're a skater, a what? It's skater?
Skater like this what I wear when I'm skating.
Where? Very nice, very nice. I feel like it's 'cause you're just a Beckham. Like I feel like when you're a Beckham you just automatically have good style, you know?
I mean, my mom really usually tells me what to wear. She's got good fashion sense.
So let's talk about your book, your photography book. It's called, What I See. Can you tell us more about that?
What I see is like what kind of photos I take. A bunch of landscapes, a bunch of portraits. It's mostly of my old work when I was like 14 or 15.
Oh wow.
Um until I was like 17. So it's kind of a mix of, so it's kind of like all the photos I've taken in between since I started photography and from now.
So what made you want to do a book? Like what inspired you to do that?
I was picking my GCSEs and I picked photography and I just started doing it just for fun, taking my camera everywhere, posting pictures. Penguin came to me and asked if I wanted to do a book and I, I couldn't believe I would ever be an author.
So as a photographer, you obviously really love taking pictures of other people and other things, but do you like getting your picture taken?
I think I prefer being behind the camera. But yeah, I, I, I don't mind getting my picture taken.
It's fun sometimes, right?
Yeah, I prefer being in charge of the whole shoot, being behind it.
Makes sense. So do you selfie?
Um, you do. I have, but I don't usually.
Okay.
There is some in my book though.
So out of all the things that you've taken photos of, what's your favorite thing to capture?
I really like to photograph my family. Yeah. Especially my little sister.
Oh, Harper.
Yeah, 'cause we're so close that it's just, you know, just easy to take from, of them.
And you guys are just, um, with each other all the time, right? So it's probably just really easy.
All the time, we're really close.
By the way, I was stalking your Instagram before you came. Okay. That's not creepy. What? Go on. What was that? He's like that's really creepy. Um, no, but honestly, it is really cool. I like how you, it looks like you have some sort of like strategy to it. But would you say that's your favorite platform, like to share all your photos on?
Um, yes, that's one that's how I get my work out. I think that's how people nowadays usually do it. So yeah, I kinda that's how I use my Instagram for, is my photos.
Would you say that's like your favorite social media app like across the board? So, can you remember the first photo that you've ever taken and what it meant to you?
Um, my first photo that I've ever taken, I don't have no idea.
Is there one that stands out to you then? Maybe like a favorite.
Um, there's one that I took actually of my dad's first L. A. Galaxy game.
That's so cool.
That I took, which was pretty cool.
So when you're not being a pro photographer, like what are you up to? What do you like to do?
I love to skateboard. Yeah. That's what I usually do in my free time.
Where's your favorite place to skateboard? Like in L. A. or anywhere?
Um, in L. A. there's this place called Stoner Park.
Nice. Where is it? Oh my God. No idea. It's a secret location. I got it. And also congratulations because you're going to university in September.
Thank you.
Of course, in New York, right?
Yes, New York.
So what are you planning on studying there? Is it photography?
I'm doing art and photography.
Okay. So a bit of both.
But I'm doing a minor in art, major in photography.
Oh, okay. What kind of art do you think? Do you think it's like probably like general studies, just like
Yeah. All art in general. Yeah, yeah, a bunch of everything really.
That'll help you with your photography, I think. Yeah. Very smart. And then of course, at Young Hollywood, we love your parents, David and Victoria. So what is the greatest piece of advice they've ever given you?
Be humble and work hard. That's what they tell me every day.
You seem pretty humble right now. And you obviously work hard because you're 18 and you have a book, so that's awesome. Yeah. Well, Brooklyn, it was a pleasure. Thank you so much for hanging with us today. And we can't wait to see what you have next.
Definitely. Awesome.
