On the Set of "Pretty Little Liars"

Welcome to Young Hollywood. com. What's up, Young Hollywood? I'm JC Depre and today we are on the set of ABC Family's new original series, Pretty Little Liars. Can you tell me a little bit about Arya? What's she like?

Yeah, Arya is um, she's a fun character to play. She you know, she's 16 and um, so obviously she's very young, but she's she's got it, you know, she's got it together at a young age and um, she's mature and I'm still that girl. Okay, nothing's changed. Yes, yes it has. I'm your teacher. I know it's not just me. You you feel like this is right for us too. That it's not right. We just can't. She's a little different and I like that.

You seem like you're kind of into fashion as well. What is your what's your secret?

It's all about accessories for me. Like I love jewelry and I love shoes and belts and and hats and stuff and I feel like that can really make an outfit.

You are like literally working all day today. I was just you were just telling me you're here since 5:00 a. m. That's insane. How do you feel about having to wake up so early coming to work?

Awful. The thing is, it's like, I usually have Starbucks before I come to work, and at 5:00 in the morning, they're not open and if they are, I don't want to get up like 10 minutes earlier to go get coffee. I'm so like I'm out of it.

Your character Hannah on the show, but here you're shoplifting now? Is that true?

I shoplift. Yeah, she's really cool. Don't shoplift. I'm not saying shoplift. But it's cool for me to be able to do that on the show. No, um, yeah, she shoplifts and um, she struggles with, you know, eating problems. Hannah, I buy you everything you need to be popular. That's not why I do it. This is something you do. A few times. This is about your father, isn't it? But yeah, she's really fun because she's she's sarcastic. Now, there like the writers have just made her so fun. Like she's really dramatic, but just has the best one-liners and like she's just a really cool character for me to play. She's so cool.

You guys are shooting the homecoming scene today, I hear? Is that right? Second guest: We're shooting the whole episode as homecoming, yeah. So, I was very, very glammed up. It was actually really funny today. We just had to do one scene in which we were running. So, I came in at like 6:00 a. m. Did like three hours of hair and makeup, getting it like the look just right. And then we took three takes that took like 10 minutes. And then they're like, great, go home. And I was like, Awesome.

Tell me a little bit more about your character on the show. Third guest: Spencer Hastings is the uh, the overachiever. She's the kind of anal, academic, perfect at everything. Can you believe what a scene this is? Alison would have loved it. Popular in life and death.

Your family kind of has roots in Hollywood, right? So you kind of grew up in this whole industry. What is it like kind of stepping out on your own and having your own show and doing your own thing for the first time? Third guest: It's um, it's really awesome. It's something that I've always wanted to do. It's like I I was so fortunate the way I grew up. I kind of got to be like a wild thing on like the Universal Backlot. My brother and I kind of like stole golf carts and like drove around to the set of Jaws. I didn't want to just be on my dad's shows because not that I don't absolutely adore them. I just wanted to be my own thing.

So your character's name is Emily. Is that correct? Fourth guest: We're Fields. Yes, it is.

And she's an athlete? Fourth guest: Yes, she is. She's a swimmer and actually right now we're standing in her domain, the locker room. So, yes. A lot of stuff has happened in here. It's been pretty crazy.

So what is Emily's big secret? Everyone seems to be having something that they're lying about, hiding from somebody. What what is Emily's deep dark secret? Fourth guest: Deep dark secret. Emily is she's dealing with her sexuality. I'm sorry. This A person is threatening to come out and expose her in a way that, you know, she doesn't even know what it is exactly. So, she doesn't want to be labeled. And I mean, mostly it's just she hasn't told anyone yet. So for somebody to come out and be like, we're just going to tell the whole world that you're this. And she's like, but I don't even know what I am.
