Welcome to Young Hollywood. com. So I'm sitting down with Nikki and Rich. You guys are like the main thing tonight. How are you?

I'm good, how are you?

Feel great.

Girl, it's boring, everything is looking sweet. Time goes by and my eyes wander free. It's all my fault, I'm the one to blame. Shame on me and my man eating game. I'm not gonna lie say that it's not you, it's me. You can't kiss a boy when they're made to be free.

You guys definitely have a unique sound. Do you want to tell us a little bit about your mixture of sound? Because I know it's a little bit of everything.

It is. Um, and he comes from, you know, like a hip-hop background and I come from a more like conservative gospel background. So we kind of meshed both of those worlds and other styles that we love.

I think like with R&B soul music, which we kind of, I guess, are. And it goes through so many generations, from Motown to straight nineties R&B, Mariah being one of our influences, of to to nowadays in Lauren Hill and and you know, everything that's going on. I think it all sort of plays a part in what the music is and you know, we never really specifically said we want to do this kind of sound or that kind of sound and I think the record reflects that, it's all sort of from different periods and kind of our interpretation of what we love.

You guys are here at the Puma Social Club. How'd you guys get involved with this event?

You know, it was brought to us and we were just instantly when we heard about it, we were like, we're in and this would be great, a great opportunity. We're, you know, we love Puma and Fiji and, you know, all of it. It's great.

Tell me how you guys got together.

We met a couple years ago. And I met him when I was living in Nashville. He was my first like writing session to be hooked up with. And we started writing for like other people and just off and on writing and I pushed myself on him to write with, to work with me.

Yeah, and it just it just kind of evolved into its own thing. I mean, we were like trying to do records for other people, but then we found like our own kind of sound, our own thing. We were like, you know what? Let's just do it ourselves and and make our own kind of record and

And I didn't want to give the songs away. I'm like, I can't pitch this out to another artist.

I always think about that. When you guys are producing these great hits like, for example, winning a Grammy. Yeah. And then it goes to some, I mean, you know, you still got the Grammy, but why not do it for yourself, right, guys?

Yeah, it was actually before we really were working hard together. But yeah, I mean it's uh, I think the beauty is we're all artists and you love to work with different artists. And I think that's the great thing about what we do is the ability to work with so many different people and and learn from them and evolve with that and you know, it's been great. It's been a great ride.

For two music masterminds like yourself, you guys both have very successful paths. It's not like you're just coming into the music world. What is the creative process like for you guys when you sit down in the studio? Is it random?

No, kidding. No, it's great. I think we just, you know, we just love getting in there and really just, you know, just whatever we want to do we do. We don't really have a set agenda and I think that's the beauty of how we work. I mean it it starts from like me building a track to Nikki coming in writing something down and it's just evolving and it's always

You guys write your own stuff?

All of it is just him and I. Yeah. Yeah, he uh, it's that's why we had the group That's why it's Nikki and Rich, I guess. It's just everything just is us. All the music that you hear, he played it all and you know, we collaborate on everything.
