I see your monsters, I see your pain. Tell me your problems, I'll chase them away. I'll be your lighthouse, I'll make it okay. When I see your monsters, I'll stand there so brave and What's going on, guys? I'm Rez. I do all the production for Time Flies, all the music. I'm Cal, the other half of Time Flies. Uh, I sing, I rap, freestyle. And right now you're watching Young Hollywood Backstage Diaries. get to know yourself and it'll be alright. I know we can't get worse than today sittin' here and she's trying to rehearse what to say see. She's in the bathroom and hoping I'm not in earshot while she's getting used to the sound of a tear trap. Splash it hits the tile.

And I know it's been a while since you've seen me smile and laugh like I used to. I've been in denial since it happened just take me to the past cuz I just can't imagine losing you. You're hanging out with Time Flies. Welcome to Backstage Diaries in the studio. We're about to take you inside what we're doing. Let's do it. First we got the Sony on tours. We live on the East Coast, New York, New Jersey. We both live in New York though. Had to pop into our favorite studio, The Lair. Love it here. Just just number one. As you can see, we're actually a little bit already set up. Um, you got three sets of monitors.

This, uh, for those geeks out there, these NS-10s are the best sounding ones in the world. Um, big ones never sound good, but still sound good. Yeah, fun. Uh, this is all a bunch of rack gear, compressors, EQs, analog stuff. But even with all that, we're running everything out of this laptop. Uh right out of this laptop. Yeah. So Cal and I met, uh, in college. We both went to Tufts. I was at a party, I guess we're at the same party, and Cal was freestyling, uh, I think I was beatboxing and, well, actually, I think we were playing, I was playing drums, but the official story, I guess, is beatboxing. So I said, "Cal, you sound, you know, dope. Do you want to come be the singer for our band?"

So he came down, did a few, you know, rehearsals with us, and then we ended up winning Battle of the Bands, getting to open for Ludo, which was awesome. We do this thing called Time Flies Tuesday. And we just thought we'd mess around and make a beat. Right now we're messing with Daft Punk "Doing It Right." Who knows what it'll end up with. Eventually, we'll put some topics in a hat, freestyle, see what happens. But it's Time Flies Tuesday. Just kicking it, freestyling. Like, he said on guitar is literally just keep practicing, keep doing it. I think there was always a rhythmic thing there.

So even if I was saying nothing, if there was, you know, if I was listening to music, I'd be like, you know, like, just coming up with some sort of something in my head. And the real trick to it, and I think this is the trick to everything in life, is you can't think. And that doesn't mean shut your brain off. That means have the muscle memory to be able to do it without getting in your own way. Say we make it okay. When I see your monsters, I'll stand there so brave and chase them all away. Yeah, we gotta do that on piano. That was actually really cool. That was the first time ever doing that. Yeah. I dance around a lot. I drink a little on stage. I have a good time.

Uh, I don't know, I think we turn up at shows, which, you know, is definitely how I like to live my life, and I think it's, you know, especially, you know, we get to slow it down and do a little acoustic here and there at shows, and that's, you know, true. You gotta stand sometimes. But, uh, yeah, turn up, turn up. The rowdy college campuses across the country are strong. It's hard to narrow it down. I think doing college campuses is, you know, no one wants to be lied to.

And I think people often underestimate the intelligence of whether it's a business selling, whether it's the consumer for a business, or the listener for music, or the viewer for movies, like the masses are smarter than you, you know? You can't lie to them, you can't fake being someone else. We're some bros who met in college who love making music, and that reads to college kids because they're like, I know those dudes. Thank you for watching Backstage Diaries. You know who you're hanging out with? It's Time Flies. I'm Cal. I'm Rez. You guys have been amazing, so come hang out again soon.
