I got into music uh definitely with the encouragement of my family from a very young age, at school I always participated on in all the music programs, choirs and then I studied music in college. So, and I started playing in bands since I was a teenager, music has always always been the focus of my life. I can't wait one minute more. The sun will shine, the sun will shine. I can't wait one minute more. The sun will shine, the sun will shine. We can't wait one minute more. The sun will shine, the sun will shine. I can't wait one minute more. The sun will shine, the sun will shine. We can't wait one minute more. The sun will shine, the sun will shine. Hey, what's up?
I'm Sebu from Capital Cities and you are watching Young Hollywood Backstage Diaries. Oh, LA is my home. LA, Los Angeles is my hometown. I was raised here. I have lots of friends and family here, so whenever I get to play in town it's always a great time for me because I get to see everybody. It's like a reunion of sorts. It just feels great to to see all the really close friends and family all in one night appreciating my music, our music. Capital Cities found the funk, uh in probably around 2009. This was about a year into my bandmate Ryan and I working together on a wide variety of projects, side projects, solo projects as well as commercial music work.
And all that collaboration just led to, you know, lots of music. Uh and a deep repertoire of of ideas. And we decided to start the band Capital Cities and it so turns out that a lot of those ideas were funky and dancey and positive and we apply the signature of dual vocals, dual unison vocals. And we added a lot of trumpets to it. So, it became this mixed bag and it is what it is now and we're excited to be touring and playing music. Um, dancing, dancing. Uh you know, we don't do anything extra special except for the fact that we really try to engage the audience and and encourage them to participate. Los Angeles, what's up? It's good to be back to my guys.
The best way to do that is to play some good music and uh we're gonna play some really good music that you could dance to and shake your butt and smile and sing along, maybe cry some tears of joy. It's just gonna be a fun party. LA is a great place uh for music. It's kind of the center is the capital city of the of the entertainment world and so there are a lot of musicians out here looking to to do well and um they're very talented so it's easy to find great musicians here. Um and we've been blessed and very lucky to find probably the best musicians in the world. There's uh a driving music community here. Signing to a major label uh was not it did not happen overnight.
Um we spent uh probably an entire year discussing the potential uh of hooking up with the various labels. During that time we did a lot of things independently and "Safe and Sound" was released before we got signed and it started doing well on on radio kind of in South America. So, it was already doing its thing and uh when we connected with Capitol Records, it was just this natural progression of where we wanted to go and um it was after we signed with them that we released our full length which was already completed at the time of signing.
And it went really well and when we found out the news that we were actually gonna work with Capitol Records, it was it was amazing and of course the first people we would call are best friends and family and celebrate and we celebrated because Capitol Records is such a legendary label with uh some of my favorite acts having been on it. Um so, it's exciting. Hey, what's up? I'm Sebu from Capital Cities. Thank you for watching Young Hollywood Backstage Diaries.
