I'm going to pop some tags, only got. You know that song, right? Well, you know, nominated for two Grammys and this is my first time, you know, I'm a legend. Uh-huh. So, Thrifts Shop is up for Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, the masterminds of that action. I'm I'm gonna pop some tags. Only got $20 in my pocket. I'm I'm I'm hunting, looking for a come up. This is awesome. I'll wear your granddad's clothes. I look incredible.

I'm in this big ass coat from that thrift shop down the road. So, for all you people in England, this is the derby hat. You have it steamed down at the point and the tail, right? And it gives you that nice swooping curved look. Very fresh, very clean. If this is going to be the suit I'm going to wear for the right red carpet, nice and white, nice and tight. You know, going into all of this, um it it's surreal. Um, I mean, three years ago, I was minding my own business, uh, for a job. uh, you know, my kid, my my youngest son was sleeping on my floor. Uh, you know, I thought that was gonna be my life and I've I've been all over the world, uh, been to the VMAs.

Now I'm here at the Grammy's and blessed enough to be nominated for Christ sake, you know. Oh my God, we're going. Shh. I am the poster child of persistence. And here's why, music has always been a part of my life. Always. Junior High, High School, college, I've always been doing some kind of music. I got into bands, playing in bands in college. Moved to Seattle, started playing in bands there, always doing music. It was uh, you know, I I encourage um, anyone out there in the Young Hollywood audience that, you know, if you find something that you like to do, painting, wrestling, basketball, uh, arranging flowers, scrap It doesn't matter, you know, if it makes you happy, never stop doing it.

Cause you just never know where it could take you. That's real talk. Everybody knows that part, right? I mean the hook is the is usually the line of the chorus that's the title of the song and it's the thing that you remember. You want a hook to be memorable, you know. I'm going to pop some tags. Everybody knows that part, right? I mean, the concept of thrift shopping is this. You could pay a lot for designer stuff. You could, you know, can I curse? You can. Oh, good. You could go and pay tons of money for that everybody else has. I'll wear your granddad's clothes. I look incredible. I'm in this big ass coat from that thrift shop down the road. I'll wear your granddad's clothes.

I look incredible. I look come on. I haven't had to have a drink or chosen to have a drink for 14 and a half years. So that's one of the things that kind of made him special to me because all almost every single one of his songs on The Heist tells a story or piece of my life, you know. I kept grinding and grinding and grinding just like he did. You know, he talks about neon cathedral about waiting outside the bar for for for the lights to come on so he could go and drink. Yeah, I can remember when I used to do that. People ask me, "Hey, do you have tats and this," you know, I said, "Yeah, I got a few tats. Um, I don't put anything on on my body that doesn't mean anything."

You know, uh, nine years sober, I got peace, serenity, and this is how I got it, through recovery. And it says, uh, HOW. How is to believe in something greater than yourself? Cause you know, you get to live life but you really don't control it. Thinking you have control of anything is like thinking you can hold on to a puff of smoke. It's an illusion that your brain tells you. For me, being sober is fresh. Maybe it could be for you. I'm gonna pop some tags. Only got $20 in my pocket. And hopefully, I'll be walking away with a yellow statue. It just sounds freaky to even freaking say that. Okay. So, things are all coming together. We're getting pretty close.

Getting pretty close to popping down to the car. Nice to have y'all in the house. It's your boy Juan. Oh, you may not recognize me without my shades. I'm going to put the shades on. Do a little dancy dancy. This is awesome. Woo! You know, what do you do when you get that very thing that you've always wished for? I I can't say. Tears are highly possible. I'm here for, you know, I'm here for my sons. I'm here for all the bandmates and all the song partners that I've ever sung with.

So yeah, you know, if I'm lucky enough to be able to walk up there, if I'm lucky enough to be able to address, you know, Juan, say something, you know, I'm going to thank the people who got me here because without them, I wouldn't be here. And that includes you. You know, without you, without you people, I wouldn't be here. Ben says it all the time from stage, you know, without you, there is no us. All right, y'all.
