Vanessa Hudgens: 'Singing High School Musical is a reflex!'
Vanessa Hudgens sometimes finds herself singing the High School Musical songs.
The 27-year-old actress shot to fame starring as Gabriella Montez in the first Disney Channel movie back in 2006, before reprising her role for 2007's High School Musical 2 and High School Musical 3: Senior Year in 2008.
Vanessa has now moved on from the franchise, but often finds
herself humming some of the films' catchiest tunes.
"(I sing them) every now and then. Sometimes, someone will be like,
‘We’re all in this together,’ and then I’ll be like (starts
singing), ‘We’re all in this together!'” she laughed to
Entertainment Tonight, referring to the finale song from the first
movie. “It’s like reflexes.”
Vanessa's next role sees her starring in NBC comedy Powerless,
which tells the story of an insurance firm who are left with the
task of cleaning up the messes of superheroes.
And she has also been using her High School Musical past to
influence karaoke nights with her new castmates.
"We did a High School Musical song, Breaking Free," Vanessa said,
talking about the duet she and then-boyfriend Zac Efron performed
in the first film.
“I was like, ‘This is so funny because I saw my name (in the
karaoke song book), but it was Vanessa Anne and that was it. I was
like, ‘OK, that’s interesting.’ So naturally, I had to sing
myself."
The franchise is now being given a revival, with Disney Channel
currently casting for High School Musical 4. Vanessa is thrilled
that an entirely new generation will be able to experience the joy
of the story.
“I love musicals. Being able to do musicals is such a dream of mine
and the fact that they’re keeping it alive and bringing it to a new
generation is really wonderful,” she added.
