Young Hollywood

So, Rachel, you and I were co-stars today.

Rachel Boyd

Yes, we were.

Young Hollywood

And, uh, you are out of wardrobe now, but it is safe to say we can now fully announce

Rachel Boyd

Yes.

Young Hollywood

You had a baby bump in the scene.

Rachel Boyd

Yes, I did. I mean, I had a blast on set with you guys. I got here, hair, makeup, wardrobe, like, it was such an experience, and you guys were like a family here, and I felt really welcomed.

Young Hollywood

How was your experience being on this set?

Rachel Boyd

The people here are are some of the kindest people I've ever met. The the storylines are heightened for sure, but I found that really fun to play. Everybody here is very passionate and dedicated, and that makes it easy to be excited about the work that we're doing and putting my best effort into it. I feel lucky to be joining such a legacy show.

Young Hollywood

Now, talk about a day in the life for you as an actress on Days of Our Lives.

Rachel Boyd

Okay. Okay, I I'll do today because it's today. Um, today, I got here. My call time was at 7:00 in the morning, and I went right into a fitting, and then after that, we did rehearsal, and then I went and I shot a scene in in a hospital room that took place after the scene that you and I shot together, but I shot it first. And then I had a little break, and then you and I shot our stuff together in the hospital. Very fun. And then after that, I took a nap, and then I came here, and after this, I will get my hair and makeup changed for the stuff that I'm shooting at the end of the day today. Wow. It's a big day today. This is a good day for you to ask me that question.

Young Hollywood

I mean, talk about you moved here from Toronto, and now you're actually living the life of a full-on working actress. It's like so exciting.

Rachel Boyd

I I can't believe it. I was like, um, I was a server in Toronto, and I was still doing acting and stuff, um, living at home. And then all of a sudden, it was just like one day, my manager called me and she was like, "You want to be on Days of Our Lives? And you're gonna go live in LA and like shoot the show." And I was like, "How is this real?" And then six weeks from that point, and I had my I was here.

Young Hollywood

Talk about the audition process.

Rachel Boyd

I did audition for this. I I I had auditioned for it over a year ago, um, when they were initially auditioning for the role. I had a call back. It didn't know, it didn't go my way, but and then I I all of a sudden, it was like eight months later, and this is why it was such a shock to me that I was serving and I got a call and I was like, "D- She was like, 'Do you remember when you auditioned for Days of Our Lives?'" I'm like, "Yeah, yeah." She said that they wanted me here, and they were gonna like help me come out. It was really cool.

Young Hollywood

That is almost like the epitome of an actor's dream.

Rachel Boyd

I definitely feel like I I felt like I hit like the craziest pot of gold. I don't know if that's the saying, but yeah, I feel really lucky, and I'm so happy every day, and especially because everyone here is so nice.

Young Hollywood

Yeah, I I felt lucky and honored that I was able to like have a little role and be in scenes with you. And I almost had to take care of you. I had to be like the lovely kind nurse.

Rachel Boyd

You were. I felt very cared for. Except for one time, she tried to pop a wheelie with me in the wheelchair. At that point, I did not feel very cared for, but it's okay because I did ask her to do it.

Young Hollywood

She did. And then by accident, I moved the wheelchair in the wrong way, and then she put her foot out and like almost like knee dear jerker haul. Lesley was making a creative choice. I had to see through that she was gonna be able to barrel me through those people, and that's where the foot the foot thing. But here's the thing. Let's let's like put this out there. So, I was talking to Lindsay when you your co-star also, yes, the doctor, and I I was like doing some math in my head while you were in the wheelchair, and we were waiting to go on. I was like, "How how far along is she in the scene?" like give or take.

Rachel Boyd

Oh, interesting.

Young Hollywood

I was doing some math. She has to give birth. Yes. I need to be your labor and delivery nurse 'cause I think I'm already bonded with you now. Yes. I I think like I think I'm your person. I was doing some research for this because I mean, I've never been pregnant and I haven't given birth yet. But there's like a whole demographic on YouTube of uh, pregnancy influencers. And it's a big demographic, and uh, they vlog everything. And their most viral videos are their birthday videos. So, I I'm like so in that, it's all in my algorithm on social media. Now, it's like all my YouTube recommended are these like pregnancy vlogs. I'm getting baby videos all over the place.

Young Hollywood

As an actress, how do you memorize all those lines?

Rachel Boyd

Well, it's definitely a muscle. So it's one of those things where the more you do it, the the easier it kind of becomes. For me, my process is kind of like finding out ways to to deeply connect with what I'm saying and why I'm saying it, because that helps me track the thought process better in my head. But definitely on this show, I'm getting like boot camp level training for memorizing lines.

Young Hollywood

And then those influencers, maybe did they show you how to like have the contractions because you had the facial expressions down really well.

Rachel Boyd

I would want like somebody to see it and be like, "Oh, yeah, I remember that." Like that would be everything to me 'cause I'm like, "I'm really trying."

Young Hollywood

I felt that when I when I had you sit, I'm like, "I know. I know. I know." Yeah. Okay, so speaking of having a cameo, is there one cameo that you loved seeing on Days of Our Lives since you've been here or perhaps there's someone that you want on this show really badly.

Rachel Boyd

My mom got a chance to visit the set, um, one day when she was visiting helping me move in. And, um, she was like having so much fun like walking through the sets, and I was like, "I feel like you are like living like your movie star fantasy right now." And she was like, "I kind of am." She like was all done up her hair and makeup, wore these like cute cute heels with like a a like matching jumpsuit. And so I think I would have to say my mom just because I I think she really wants like her time in the spotlight.

Young Hollywood

Okay, because we're talking about your mom and and like you're new to the show. Tell me what this means to you personally.

Rachel Boyd

I mean on a basic level, it means time, time passing. Um, but also I guess in terms of the show and and working as an actor, um, and and even the pregnancy stuff, it's that, you know, things go by so so much faster than you might expect when it seems like there's a lot of sand in the hourglass. And just to be able to savor every moment as it's passing through and and, um, be happy and grateful all the time because yeah, things run out, but you'll always have those memories to cherish, so you should really live in it while it's happening.
