Madonna and fellow guest Cee Lo Green have taken aim at the edgy
hip-hop star for her actions and now Minaj has added her thoughts,
revealing she was shocked when news at what happened onstage in
Indianapolis got back to her.
Appearing on DJ Ryan Seacrest's Los Angeles radio show on Monday
(13Feb12), the Super Bass hitmaker said, "My first reaction was
disappointment only because of my respect for Madonna... I'm a
cuckoo lady too... but I would never be able to do it. I just
thought, 'Oh my God, I hope they don't penalise Madonna.'"
But now the dust has settled on the controversy, Minaj can
understand why Madonna forgave her unruly Super Bowl guest after
she apologised.
She added, "She's done some crazy things... so I think that's
probably why she was able to forgive M.I.A... Madonna knows the
artist that M.I.A. is and it was her decision to take the risk with
all of us. We're kind of all firecrackers."
In a radio interview with Seacrest last week (10Feb12), Madonna
admitted she "wasn't happy" about the finger gesture, adding, "I
understand it's kind of punk rock and everything, but, to me, there
was such a feeling of love and energy and positivity and it just
seemed negative... It's such a teenager... irrelevant thing to do
in one respect... It was just out of place."
