Ne-Yo

What's going on? Greetings and salutations, everybody. My name is Neo. And I'm here at Young Hollywood. Independent. That's why I love her. I'm Neo. He's a Ladies and gentlemen, my name is Neo and I was at Young Hollywood. I got I got I can't. Girl let me love you and I will love you until you learn to love yourself. Girl let me love you. I know your trouble. Don't be afraid. Girl let me help.

Young Hollywood

Georgie's fallen in love. Georgie. And which you just pointed out, the women love you. They they do. They do love you.

Ne-Yo

I've been told. They do love you. They love you. Especially the the female dogs.

Young Hollywood

Well, music is the way to the heart and you are good at music.

Ne-Yo

Thank you sir. Yes. Appreciate it.

Young Hollywood

And where do you find the inspiration for your lyrics?

Ne-Yo

Um a a little bit of everywhere. This song, I I can't take full credit for this record. Uh I don't do a a lot of co-writes. Right. But uh Sia actually uh co-wrote this record with me. And uh the hook was was the first thing that was written. Uh she wrote the hook. And the funny the funny story and I know she won't mind me telling this story because she's a pleasant and beautiful oddball she is. She said the line uh let me love you and I will love you until you learn to love yourself. She got that from an AA meeting. Ah. Interesting. I've never been to an AA meeting before so I couldn't really pull from there as far as inspiration for the record. So I took it for for a face value, you know. I feel like you can't properly love another person until you understand what it is to love yourself. Right. You know. But even in loving yourself, that's something that you know, it's it's not something that you can just figure out how to do. Like you you need to be taught, you know. So the song is about letting a person get close enough to you to show you what real love is so that you can learn to love yourself, thus being able to properly love another person.

Young Hollywood

I like the way that sounds. Yeah. But normally your songs, you know, they're quite heartfelt, you know, a lot of a lot of emotions out there.

Ne-Yo

I write about I write a lot about love because I feel like love is one of the few things on this planet that will never go out of style. Right. You know what I mean? It it's not one it's not a it's not a passing fad, it's not a trend. Love is something that the world needs and will need for as long as the world exists. So, you know, if you're gonna write a song about something, why not why not write about something infinite?

Young Hollywood

Perfect. You're doing A&R, right? You're the president or Vice President of A&R for Mohotown records.

Ne-Yo

Yeah, trying to figure out exactly what it is that means and and what uh what I'm gonna be able to bring to that. You know, uh with if all goes well and if I know what I'm doing at least a little bit, uh this number one will not be the only number one. It'll be one of many. So yeah.

Young Hollywood

That sure it will be one of many.

Ne-Yo

Thank you sir.

Young Hollywood

And does that mean you're gonna be looking for artists as well?

Ne-Yo

Oh, yes, absolutely.

Young Hollywood

Love that. Absolutely. Any you found so far? Anyone exciting you can tell us to look out for?

Ne-Yo

Well, as of right now, they they had a a full roster of new artists when I got over there. So my whole thing is is uh, you know, incorporating myself into the artist development. You know what I mean?

Young Hollywood

You should coach me. For this sofa. You know, had I known. I've been so much better than I am. Nobody answered the phone. You've got an old number. I forgot to text you the new one. You didn't text me the new one. I'm sorry. No, it's again. It's my own fault. Not yours. No, you're fault. My fault. Not yours. I will not be blamed. Once again. We've got some photos that are going to come up on the screen. Uh oh. And you're gonna it's fine. Not not bad photos like that. I promise, we were both consenting. This screen. You're gonna you're gonna talk us through them. There you go. Look, can we see that photo? It's adorable.

Ne-Yo

That is me and my lovely daughter Maddie and uh we are learning how to play piano together because I do not play piano. Oh. And uh she she's actually better than me. And she's not into it yet.

Young Hollywood

The new Alicia Keys. Yeah. There you go. Bang. Oh. I feel out of shape all of a sudden.

Ne-Yo

Yeah. This is me and uh my trainer. Uh we just call him boss.

Young Hollywood

He looks scary.

Ne-Yo

He is he is very scary. Yeah. He played uh he played pro ball for a little while. You know, uh gave that up. So he basically brought his exercises from when he played ball into my daily workout. So now we do stuff like this pretty much pretty much every day. Every morning. We're in, you know, doing things like this.

Young Hollywood

Oh, great photo this. But where is it?

Ne-Yo

Yes. Billboard and Pepsi uh the Bad 25th anniversary, anniversary the 25th anniversary of the Bad album. And it was also Michael Jackson's birthday. And it was Billboard, Pepsi, uh Pepsi Summer Beats concert series. Yeah.

Young Hollywood

Nice. Is this the same hat? Is it your lucky hat?

Ne-Yo

This is No, that is not the same hat. Oh. Um the sad the sad thing about being me is that I I'm not allowed to have a favorite article of clothing because as an as an entertainer as an artist, once I wear it and get photographed or, you know, be on TV with it, if I wear it again, I'm officially whack.

Young Hollywood

Okay. Yeah. So, I so note to self. There you go. Probably wouldn't probably wouldn't wear this shirt again if I were you. I think it's too late. I think it's too late. No. This has been Did you no, they've taken that the wrong way. Did you mean cuz it's a terrible shirt? No, no, no, no, no. Next photo.

Ne-Yo

Contrary to what this picture shows, I am not a good basketball player.

Young Hollywood

You look great.

Ne-Yo

Uh when photographed, I look like I know what I'm doing. Probably. Uh that is a good friend of mine that is Kevin Hart. Right. Uh he was actually standing on a box when we took this picture.

Young Hollywood

Sure he was. Sure he was. It's okay. It's okay. He's he's come he's okay with the fact that he's three feet tall. That's all right.

Ne-Yo

This came from Okay. Now like I said, me and Kevin Hart are friends. So one day out of the blue, he's like, yo, let's let's get together and play some ball. Cool. Uh it was his company versus my company. Uh the plan was we were gonna play three games, best two out of three. We played two games. His team won one game, my team won the other game. He videotape the game and put the footage on YouTube. So it got a bunch of hits all over the place. So he let it be known on YouTube, game three is on the way. So it picked up. Uh shout out to Nike. They came down and gave everybody shoes and the whole nine and and so this was game three. And uh yeah. I I won't I won't even give away what happened because he's got the footage coming out very, very soon as to what happened within that game.

Young Hollywood

Right. I'm assuming you must have lost.

Ne-Yo

There's there's winning and losing and then there's Okay. There's taking part. There's

Young Hollywood

You should challenge Kevin to a sing-off.

Ne-Yo

I want to challenge Kevin to something that requires height. Because then I know that I will win. Okay. Definitely. Yes.
