Jessica Sanchez on Working with Ne-Yo & Returning to "Idol"

Hi, I'm Jessica Sanchez and I'm here at the Young Hollywood Studio and this is my single called Tonight featuring Neo, acoustic version. Here it goes. It seems like every day is something else. another reason to be stressing. and you just wanna run away. Said you just wanna run away.

So, Ne-Yo, I know you tweeted. You said, I know working with him on the new single. You tweeted that it was one of the best three moments of your life.

Yes.

What were the other two?

Just uh, going back to Idol. Going back. And going back to Idol and just performing and debuting my single. Yeah. And doing the music video. So we're about to hop up on this rock Get up out of here. Go somewhere where nothing ever goes wrong.

Working with Ne-Yo, how was that?

It was, it was fun. It was fun. I was like all cool about, you know, going into the music video shoot and like I'm like, yeah I can dance. I can move. All that stuff and then he came in and I was like, oh no, Ne-Yo's gonna dance. I'm gonna look so bad.

when you go back and you perform and you know there's gonna be no voting, you but you're you were singing your new single tonight with Yeah. Is it, is it more nerve-wracking? Is it less nerve-wracking? How is it different?

It's so much easier.

Is it?

It's so much easier. I mean it's like so much positive feedback. I mean just going there with Ne-Yo and my single and no judgment, it was just like all, like I was on cloud nine. They weren't my judges, so I was like, okay, it's all good.

Now if they had been your judges, which of the three or which of the four you think would have been the most intimidating?

Nicki. Said you just wanna run away. So we're about to hop up on this ride. Get up out of here.

Now what if what if I said to you today, you're going to record a duet with anybody either from last year's panel of judges or this year's panel of judges? If you could pick one person.

Nicki Minaj.

Nicki Minaj. Even though she's the toughest, you would choose her.

Definitely I love her. Yeah.

Working on the new album, how do you make sure that Jessica's style shines through? Because I know you've probably got producers, you've worked with some of the best producers in the business.

You know, if I'm gonna make music, I want it to be my music and I want it to stay true to who I am. All the songs on there are songs that I love. Um, I I did a couple songs that weren't really my favorite and they're not on the album. And.

Oh really?

Yeah. So I mean, I'm just I'm just happy that, you know, that I was able to pick all the songs that I just truly love.

I know they're probably all like your babies, but is there one that you're like, I cannot wait for my fans to hear this song.

One that would really stand out as far as a message uh, would be Right To Fall. It's more of like a an empowering message about um, just having the right to fall in love with anybody and just, you know, more of like the gay rights, biracial love kind of thing. So I'm like totally for that. And everything is all right.
