Young Hollywood

Hey, what's up, guys? We're hanging out in the Young Hollywood studio with Jorge Lendenburg, Junior.

Jorge Lendeborg Jr.

Yo, that's me. How's it going?

Young Hollywood

Ah, you know. It's going. It's good. Junior. So where's George, Senior?

Jorge Lendeborg Jr.

You know, it's actually, it's actually his birthday. Happy birthday, Dad. Happy birthday, papa.

Young Hollywood

How old's Dad today?

Jorge Lendeborg Jr.

I think he's 49.

Young Hollywood

49? Oh, that's good. I bet he's proud of you.

Jorge Lendeborg Jr.

I hope so.

Young Hollywood

Your parents are proud that you're doing this big movie and

Jorge Lendeborg Jr.

Yeah, maybe.

Young Hollywood

You've done a lot of good movies. Spider-Man, Love Simon, Bumblebee. Pretty great.

Jorge Lendeborg Jr.

Yeah. It's, I've been, I've been very lucky so far to, to, to be a part of such great, uh, projects.

Young Hollywood

Yeah. Like as a new actor on the scene, well, like a fairly new actor, to do these big projects, is awesome, right? Do you get nervous when you audition and stuff for these like huge films?

Jorge Lendeborg Jr.

Not, not too often. To, if I'm being honest. I just, uh, you know, to get the part, I feel like it takes a lot of confidence, a lot of, you know, I'm too busy working, you know, like I'm just, I want to do the best possible job and, uh, you know, I can't take it too seriously because sometimes you're, you're just not the, the guy for the part, you know.

Young Hollywood

Sure. So Bumblebee. How was it?

Jorge Lendeborg Jr.

I was the guy, I was the guy for that part.

Young Hollywood

Yeah, you're the guy for that part. How was it? How was working on the movie?

Jorge Lendeborg Jr.

It was great. I mean, for one, I'm, I'm a big fan of Transformers. I love the original movies. I used to watch a cartoon. I had a few action figures as a kid, so

Young Hollywood

Oh, so you're like a huge fan.

Jorge Lendeborg Jr.

I'm, I've got, I've got the action figures too and everything. Yeah, yeah, and um, it's, it's kind of surreal, you know. It's still pretty crazy. I don't really know when it's going to set in, like, fully, maybe in like 30 years when, when there's like reruns or something.

Young Hollywood

Oh, I know. It's like surreal right now. What do your friends think? Do they think it's pretty cool?

Jorge Lendeborg Jr.

My friends don't care. They, they're too busy playing Fortnite. They don't care. They don't have Red Dead Redemption.

Young Hollywood

Do you game too?

Jorge Lendeborg Jr.

Uh, not really. Not too, I'm, I want to get a Nintendo Switch.

Young Hollywood

Oh, yeah. That's fun.

Jorge Lendeborg Jr.

That would be pretty cool to play some Super Smash.

Young Hollywood

Do you play Smash?

Jorge Lendeborg Jr.

Yeah, I've played that, but not on the Switch.

Young Hollywood

You played it back in the Wii, too?

Jorge Lendeborg Jr.

Yeah. Yeah. I'm a 90s kid, so I did Nintendo, old school Nintendo 64.

Young Hollywood

Oh, 64 Smash. Yeah. Oh, jeez. Definitely some, some fun stuff. Respect. What was it like working with Hailee Steinfeld? We're big fans of her here.

Jorge Lendeborg Jr.

Uh, Hailee. She's the worst. No, she's, uh, she's dope, honestly.

Young Hollywood

Not hard to look at, right?

Jorge Lendeborg Jr.

Uh, definitely. She, she, she's definitely very pretty.

Young Hollywood

Yeah. Is it fun? Were you nervous working with her? Like, had you met her before you did the film?

Jorge Lendeborg Jr.

Nah. Nah. Never, never met her. Actually, even after the auditions, uh, there was, there was no real chemistry. So I booked the part and then I met her. I met her the first time was two weeks before we started filming.

Young Hollywood

Oh my gosh. Yeah. I'd be so nervous. Like, you have to like perform in front of her and just play it cool, like,

Jorge Lendeborg Jr.

I mean, yeah, I try not to think about it.

Young Hollywood

Thank God you weren't around. I would have been so nervous. Yeah. Do you feel like, though, working on movies like this helps you in the ladies' department? Like, do you feel like you're getting more DMs on your Instagram now because you're doing all these big films and they're like in love with you?

Jorge Lendeborg Jr.

No.

Young Hollywood

Is it making it worse for you?

Jorge Lendeborg Jr.

It's making it much worse. I'm, I'm so, socially awkward. When I type stuff, people are like, "Hey, I seen your movie." I'm like, "Ha. Yeah." That's about it. I'm flying under the radar, people. Basically.

Young Hollywood

What was your favorite part about working on this film?

Jorge Lendeborg Jr.

Oh, I guess my favorite part

Young Hollywood

Craft services?

Jorge Lendeborg Jr.

Craft services is definitely top three, but besides, uh, honestly, just, uh, is the experience. You know, it, it's, I like the story, just being a part of, of being able to tell the story and being a part of, uh, this new change in the Transformers franchise. You know, going from, obviously all the things that we love, but to also, uh, uh, more focused on, on the heart and then the emotions and just, you know, bringing more authenticity and and, and story to the, to the franchise.

Young Hollywood

Did you feel the pressure of like having to live up to the past movies, like seeing like Shia LaBeouf and his part? Did you feel like, I'm going to bring my own twist to this and not even think about the past ones and bring this whole new vibe to it?

Jorge Lendeborg Jr.

Yeah, I mean, definitely. For one, you know, although it's part of the same universe, you know, Shia, who's great, he did his thing and, you know, I feel like we had totally different characters. And, you know, at the end of the day, once, this is still the, the smallest Transformers film to date, you know, as far as budget and as far as, uh, you know, the way it was made. So, I just went into it just trying to tell the best possible story.

Young Hollywood

Yeah. You got to do what you got to do.

Jorge Lendeborg Jr.

You got to do what you got to do.

Young Hollywood

What was the most challenging part of the movie? Coming to like look at a, like, 'cause you're not really looking at a Transformer, right? So you have to like pretend like you're looking at

Jorge Lendeborg Jr.

Obviously, that's, that's one of the most fun parts of the whole thing. I feel like honestly, the hardest part is just how long the shoot is. It's like four months and you just got to stay active on these 16-hour days where they take three takes and

Young Hollywood

Oh, sure. You filming the same scene for like a week and a half and you're like

Jorge Lendeborg Jr.

And it never looks like you're filming the same scene over and over again. It always looks fresh when you see it in the theater. But then you know, oh, God, I did that 10 times. It was a long day.

Young Hollywood

Exactly. Well, that's fun. Okay, last question, and make it count. If you could be any Transformer,

Jorge Lendeborg Jr.

Huh?

Young Hollywood

Which one would it be and why?

Jorge Lendeborg Jr.

Bumblebee? Hot Shot, which is like a, like a, a different generation, but he kind of filled in Bumblebee's role. He's yellow as well. That's the one that I used to watch in the cartoon. So maybe Hot Shot.

Young Hollywood

Hot Shot. And he is a hot shot, everybody. Girls stop. Thank you so much for coming in.

Jorge Lendeborg Jr.

For sure. Thank you.
