Welcome to Young Hollywood! Hey guys, this is Michelle Marie coming to you from the ESPY Style Studio, celebrating the ESPYs of course. Here with Jaylen Rose, getting some swag I see.
Yes indeed, I got a bag full. You know, beggars not choosers, but I got a lot of great gifts, a lot of great items. I will be a customer of a lot of people now that are in my bag, so it's a beautiful thing.
So I have to say just congratulations on all the success that you've had over the years and you know, now you're doing your thing, doing the sportscasting. What do you, what do you love about the transition you've made now?
The thing I love about the transition is that I'm not at home cleaning out my garage wondering what I'm going to do today, but yet, I'm still active, I'm still in the game, I'm still doing updates, I'm still reporting, I'm still being an analyst, it really keeps me excited, it keeps me enthusiastic and you know, loving the game, loving sports and entertainment, it's only right.
Now we have to talk LeBron, you know that was coming. Um, you know, how do you feel personally about the situation and about his decision that he made?
From a basketball standpoint, I love it, you know, being the fifth member of the Fab Five, I like to see people go run with other players to really try to make an impact and change the game. I don't like how it was done, you know, leaving the fans of Cleveland in the dark, you know, not talking to ownership since the end of the season, but he's 25 years old. At 25, you're not going to handle every situation the right way but on the basketball court, who's not going to watch The Miami Heat next year?
What do you think about the way that people are reacting? I mean, do you think he's handling it well?
To be honest, um, I think people are hypocrites, and this is why. You only judge people on how many championships they win. So, LeBron could have won 10 MVPs and made the All-Star game every year. He never won a championship. We say he's not Jordan, he's not Kobe, he's not Magic. But he signed up with Wade and with Bosh to go to Miami, sucked up his ego, to play with some guys, to go be a part of some special. Now, if he would have made a lateral move from the Cavs, I could question it. But he made a better move basketball-wise.
Who would you trade places with for a day, if you could just live a life of an actor, another entertainer?
Well, I'd have to be Al Pacino or Denzel. No question about it. Either I got to be in The Godfather or Training Day, no no doubt about it. Absolutely. And if I could date any actress, it would be Halle Berry. So, you know, touch all of the bases.
He goes through the A-list. I mean, it's you're trading like you know the same.
If we're going to change places, then you gotta change places with the people that's really doing it. Exactly.
If you were to say anything to your fans on how to get to where you are, because you've had a great career. What would you say to them to, you know, motivate them?
First off, you gotta stay in school. It's 2010. No high school diploma, basically no college diploma. You will be working at McDonald's, you will be the person I pull up to the car wash and say, "You know what? You didn't wipe off those rims pretty well." So you gotta be educated number one and number two be disciplined, be focused, be dedicated to your craft and believe in the Lord, all great things can happen through him.
How would up though, this is Jalen Rose of ESPN. Check out your boy, 24/7, 365.
