Young Hollywood

What's up? How are you feeling tonight?

Guest

I'm good. I'm excited.

Young Hollywood

And how was it being an executive producer? So?

Guest

It was a lot of fun. It's actually the first time we've produced anything and so it was great learning experience and a lot of fun and great to work with an idol like Magic that I grew up, you know, watching and loving as a Laker.

Young Hollywood

What is your fondest memory of like watching?

Guest

When I was young that I would remember like fond memories of watching with my dad and then winning the championships and, you know, it was like a big part of my childhood. I'm a huge Laker fan to this day. So it's great to see it.

Young Hollywood

For sure. And what was it like the moment you guys stepped on set to film? Like what was the vibe? Looks

Guest

Well, we filmed it during Covid. And so there was like really, really small. All the interviews were like ten people in a room. Um, we did some filming down like at USC at the gym. So it was kind of a weird experience, but people were all like listening to every word he had to say there's such amazing stories.

Young Hollywood

What did you learn from him? From him? Yeah.

Guest

Um I learned a lot. I learned about perseverance and kinda going you're set on one path and then you have to kinda pivot and do change and so amazing to see everything he's been through and you know to come.

Young Hollywood

You call him Magic? Everybody calls him Magic. You gotta I got it. And what's one thing you're looking forward to like the world seeing in the series?

Guest

Um I think people are gonna be really blown away by all the interviews here. There's like amazing amazing people that put the time and and really have some great things to say. So people are gonna be really excited to see it.

Young Hollywood

Thank you so much.

Guest

Thank you so much. Thank you.

Young Hollywood

How would you describe him in three words? Second guest: In three words. Um a charismatic individual.

Young Hollywood

That works. That works. That's great. Thank you so much. First thing that comes to your mind when you hear the words Magic Johnson? Second guest: Winner. Uh, leader. Uh and my friend.

Young Hollywood

Love that. If you could play one V one with him, would you? Second guest: Well, I have a chance if he wasn't allowed to go to the basket, and he had to shoot from twenty feet or beyond. I might have a chance. That's a big man right there. I don't have any shot going up against him. If he comes to within five feet of the basket. Listen, I can hide behind him and you wouldn't even see me. You know? The man's six nine about two sixty. I got no shot.

Young Hollywood

You can play pig. Maybe you can do pig. Second guest: Yeah, how about that. Something like that. That's the only shot I would have.

Young Hollywood

Fair. And what do you think the coolest moment of Magic's life has been? Wow. On or off the court. Second guest: I just think the coolest moment is when um you know for me it's just watching him when he came back to run the Lakers. It was just for me, the coolest moment. Because there's nobody else that should have been running the Lakers. There's still nobody else that should be running the Lakers. Okay. Um when you think about the Lakers, he's a guy that should be there. Um he personifies it. Um he represents everything they aspire to be about, they want to be about, they should be about. He's just phenomenal in ways that you just can't count. And so to me the coolest thing and the championships are great, the fast breaks are great, the business success is great, all of that stuff. But when he was introduced as the president of basketball operations, the Los Angeles Lakers. That's the time I looked at him and I said right where you belong.

Young Hollywood

I love it. Right where you belong. And you're good friends with him. So do you remember the last thing you texted him? Second guest: Oh the last thing. I can't repeat that because that was in the last few days after the Lakers stunk up the joint and finished their season. I can't repeat to you what I texted him about that. I can't tell you what I said. You can guess. You can just guess what it is. You can guess. Yeah. Yes. It ain't hard to guess what I said to him, no. I'll tell you that.

Young Hollywood

Thank you so much. Thank you. How do you describe him in three words?
