Derrick Rose on Michael Jordan

Welcome to Young Hollywood! Hey, guys, it's Michelle Marie. I'm here with the one and only Derrick Rose. We are here on the set of NBA 2K11 shoot. And you are a good actor, I have to say. You're out there doing your thing.

I wish. I think I'm getting used to it just being here. 2K and 2K have been great with me. handling me right. And the game is great, so everybody should go get it.

Well, I think you have an acting career in your future, so keep doing it.

I hope so. I hope so. I told you, he did a good job.

You have that whole focus thing going on too. Well, last time I saw you was a couple years ago, and you just got signed to the Bulls. And I saw you back at the ESPN sweep. When you're younger, growing up, playing ball, who did you look up to the most?

I have to say Michael Jordan because I'm from Chicago.

You really have come out of your shell, and I I I saw you out there. I was very impressed. How do you feel about the progress you've made as a player just getting in the league?

I think I've been doing well. If anything, you gotta have a lot of confidence, and that's what I played with the last year. I played in the two years I played in the NBA. And just being myself, going out there, loving the crowd. I'm playing in my hometown, so my fans are great. And this life, just playing in the NBA is unbelievable.

Now speaking of hometown, I mean, Michael Jordan's on the cover. It's gotta be so awesome to be a part of the game and be promoting a game that Michael's on. What are some moments you can tell us about that are your most memorable watching Mike play when you're young?

You know Mike was hitting shots especially towards the end of the game, but I think it was the last championship. I was even, I was too young to go out and celebrate in the streets. I remember my brothers them going out and my mom stopped me at the door like, "No, you cannot go out because you're too young." I was so mad at my mom at that time, but now if we win one, it's gonna be because of me and my teammates, so it should feel good.

Yeah, well, I mean, now that you have Boozer, Korver, and Brewer, you guys are, you know, really improving. This summer, you guys got a lot of good players. How do you feel about the upcoming season? Do you see your your team as a contender for the for the Finals or just winning a title this year?

Like I tell people, I don't know about I don't know about that team, but I think my team is ready. We got a lot of basketball players that just want to win, and that's what we're about right now, just winning basketball games. And the city is just waiting for us to just start.

Playing for team USA. How is it working this year? And what is it like working with Coach K?

It's an honor to even be on that team just to have that experience. Just traveling with them, just being around that coaching staff and that organization that's going on. And for me to even go to New York is good. Coach K, he's a Chicagoan, so he shows a lot of love especially for me since I'm from Chicago. But if anything, I'm happy I'm playing under him, and I hope that I learn a lot from him. This is D-Rose from the Chicago Bulls. Make sure you watch us this year. We're gonna be exciting. And we should be one of the best teams in the East. No lie.
