"Netflix & Chills" Kicks Off Spooky Slate of Programming + Weekly Elvira Webseries!

Written by Katie Marzullo. Published: October 02 2021

What’s better than a month’s worth of creepy content to keep our nerves on edge at all times? How about a weekly check-up with none other than Dr. Elvira herself?

That’s just what Netflix has in store for us this #SpookySzn as they kick off their month-long “Netflix & Chills” (heheh get it?) programming for those of us with an insatiable appetite for all things terrifying!

In addition to some movies and TV shows that trickled in last couple months, including Nightbooks, “Midnight Mass”, and the Fear Street trilogy, Netflix also has a whole slate of new scares coming to the streamer this month! Keep your eyes peeled (or peeking from behind your fingers) for these new releases, among others:

1. There’s Someone Inside Your House (10/6)

Based on Stephanie Perkins’s NYT best-seller of the same name, this story revolves around a serial killer that likes to add insult to injury – in addition to murdering his teen targets, he also exposes their deepest, darkest secrets to their entire town. Rude! He also wears masks in the exact likeness of his victims. Seriously, extra much??

2. Fever Dream (10/13)

Another book adaptation, this psychological thriller is about… well, I’m not quite sure to be honest, but the trailer looks creepy af!

3. Night Teeth (10/20)

Be careful who you party with, especially in L.A. – people here can be such bloodsuckers… literally! Starring Megan Fox, Debby Ryan, Sydney Sweeney, Alexander Ludwig, and more, a hapless chauffeur gets way more than he bargained for when he picks up two beautiful women and gets sucked (pun intended?) into their dark world of blood and fabulousness. Or as we in L.A. like to call it: Saturday.

4. “YOU” Season 3 (10/15)

At long last, we finally get to see how our favorite homicidal stalker is adjusting to domestic bliss with his new wife and baby in the NoCal suburbs! I’m totes sure it’ll last!

5. “Locke & Key” Season 2 (10/22)

More adventures from the Locke siblings and all the magical keys they find in their ancestral home – what could go wrong? Everything, we hope!

In addition to these new originals, Netflix has added/are adding some older and recent classics to their lineup like Insidious: Chapter 2, Zodiac, Labyrinth, Mars Attacks!, and the entire Jaws franchise!

But wait, there’s more! Every Sunday, Netflix’s YouTube channel will be the cushy leather couch for you to recline on as you have your weekly appointment with the one and only Mistress of the Dark, Elvira! Now, I’m not entirely sure what this webseries will entail, but according to the YouTube description, we will “get Dr.Elvira’s macabre prescription of Netflix & Chills”. Honestly we are game for ANYTHING if it involves Elvira!

Unpleasant dreams!
