Rihanna fined over legal case
Rihanna has reportedly been handed a $47,050 fine by a judge after allegedly failing to sit for a deposition in an ongoing legal battle with her former accountants.
The Umbrella star is currently embroiled in a court case with executives at New York firm Berdon LLP over allegations they mismanaged her money and owe her millions of dollars.
The accountancy firm's lawyers have been attempting to schedule a
deposition with Rihanna, but they claim she has cancelled a number
of appointments, running up the defendants' legal bills.
A judge overseeing the case in New York City has now handed the
singer a fine of $47,050 to cover the costs, while she has also
been ordered to attend a deposition hearing on 28 August (13),
according to TMZ.com.
Rihanna is currently on a world tour and she is scheduled to
perform in Brisbane, Australia on the day of her deposition.
