Chance the Rapper files legal papers over child support

Written by . Published: February 10 2017

Chance The Rapper is asking a judge to grant his ex-girlfriend the minimal amount of child support because she is "capable of full-time employment".

The No Problem hitmaker, real name Chancelor Bennett, became a first-time father in September, 2015, when he and Kirsten Corley welcomed little Kensli. It has since emerged the couple split, and court records filed on Monday (06Feb17) reveal they are "in the process of establishing separate residences."

The 23-year-old is also asking a judge to issue an order protecting personal information in the case and asking Corley to split expenses pertaining to their daughter's care, according to the Chicago Tribune.

However, Bennett's lawyers argue he is not expecting his child to live at a "minimum level of comfort," while he is living extravagantly.

In June (16), Corley dropped her legal bid for a judge to set out a formal parenting schedule for their daughter. She reportedly withdrew the petition after the couple reconciled. It now appears they have split again.

Bennett and Corley are due back in court on Friday (10Feb16).
