Adele distances herself from Donald Trump amid song row

A representative for Adele has distanced the singer from Donald Trump by declaring the presidential hopeful does not have permission to play her songs at political rallies.

The pop superstar's tracks Skyfall and Rolling In The Deep have both been used by the billionaire to entertain crowds of supporters at events as he seeks the Republican Party nomination ahead of this year's (16) presidential election.

However, a publicist for the singer confirmed to WENN that Adele had not given Trump the green light to use her hits as part of his campaign, saying, "Adele has not given permission for her music to be used for any political campaigning."

Musicians who have previously condemned Trump for using their tracks at rallies include Aerosmith, R.E.M., and singer-songwriter Neil Young.

Trump, who was the frontrunner in the polls for the Republican nomination as voting began in Iowa on Monday (01Feb16), attended Adele's concert at New York's Radio City Music Hall in December (15).
