What's up? It's Ally Michalka here at Young Hollywood. We're going to head in. This is the behind the scenes, everyone.
Nikki Novac here in the Young Hollywood studio with Ally Michalka from Grown Ups 2. Great to have you here. You came on the couch and like within seconds we're talking fashion, which I love. You were talking jeans.
We're talking jeans and then you were saying something about it's being hard hard to shop for bikinis.
Yeah, I think that bikinis and jeans are like the two things that are so specific. Like, I would never go and just buy like a friend of mine like a pair of jeans or like a bikini.
Or a bikini. And like, oh I'm assuming that you're a small or a medium. It's like everybody's different.
So speaking of bikinis, Grown Ups 2. Grown Ups 2 Clip: We're going to take off that way. Naked. You guys are losers. I was inside you!
You were, yeah, so you are in a bikini in the film. So did you get to pick it? Or did Please tell me David Spade didn't pick it for you.
David did not pick it. Um but it was funny because uh at the very beginning, you know, they they were like, you're wearing a bikini like the whole time or Adam even told me that. He was like, you're gonna be wearing a bikini, is that fine? And I was like, sure, like I guess, I mean that's fine.
Well, they all get naked in the movie. So I guess if you're there's no problem.
Yeah, yeah. So we do like our fittings and I have literally like 20 bikinis that we try on. And, you know, some of them I was like, this is a definite no, like this is like showing too much cheek action. And then we got down to like the ones we really liked and they ended up actually like customizing that bathing suit. Like they made it like kind of ruched in the back so it like showed just the right amount. But it was really funny. But I'm I'm actually surprised that they even chose that because I feel like there was ones that were even less. So I was like
Even less. Okay, good. That was like I guess in the middle somewhere. Grown Ups 2 Clip: How do you become a cop after all that crap we did growing up? Put your hands in the air. And wave them like you just don't care. Say, "Ho." Say, "Ho."
So, who of the cast, who of like the original cast was the most intimidating to work with?
Everybody was so cool and so friendly that I didn't feel like it was that kind of a set. Yeah. I mean, there's such great comedians and they all have this great rapport because they've known each other for years. So, it wasn't that kind of a set at all. But David Spade was really funny and and uh really cool and um was always like trying to give like joke ideas. Um which was really funny. He was like, I I put in like a joke idea for you this morning that I think is really funny that's gonna work. And then like we try it on set and it'd be like next and he'd be like, I'm sorry. So that was funny. Grown Ups 2 Clip: Can't believe we used to jump off this. Hey! This is Kappa A to Sigma property. Easy there, Abercrombie. Hey, hey, hey! What, what, what? What? Uh, you fellas, that was a good handshake. We got a good one, too. It goes like this. Oh, how you doing, sir? Very good, sir.
Oh, man. I interviewed all the guys and they were saying how David always like is the hot guy on set because he's like the single guy of all those guys.
Right, right.
And then when Taylor came on, he realized he wasn't. He was like, over. He was no longer top dog. He was like, what happened? So we have a picture behind you on the monitor there.
Oh my gosh, that's so cute.
Have you not seen this?
No, I haven't seen this before. Really?
This is I love that we're revealing it to you on on Young Hollywood.
Well, I I know that photo because I like gave photos for them, you know, to use for this, but I didn't know how it would look. So that's adorable. That's really funny. Grown Ups 2 Clip: No, here are big and and buck.
So you released a new single with your sister and you played it, was it the Roxy?
Yeah, we played at the Roxy.
So how did it go? Five years taking off it.
It was so It was so amazing. I mean, it was cool because we had like our really close friends there. We had um fans, people that was a part of our team. It was an amazing experience. It was funny cuz we were really prepared because we had been practicing for the last six weeks for the show. So for us, it was like, wow, okay, we're going to be performing. We've been doing music for the last five years, but it's just been us behind the scenes, you know, we haven't been doing it in front of people, we haven't been on a stage. Um So, last night ran super smoothly and it was just nice to be able to actually share a brand new music that we that we felt like was so a part of us for so long and we were so anxious to share it. That we finally had that opportunity. I mean, I was nervous weirdly, which I I mean, I'm always a little bit nervous before shows, but the the thing that was cool though about it was the fact that we were both kind of on the same wavelength when we started, you know, just kind of like sitting down and getting in the groove of things. And after a couple shows, like the nerves really did truly go away, which was great. But it was that weird first like initial shock of like, oh, okay, yeah, we're doing this again. This is this is amazing. I guess. It was a rush. Yeah. Grown Ups 2 Clip: Remember we used to come here after we got wasted? What's wasted? Uh, when you have a hankering for ice cream. We're about to get wasted. I'm going to get totally wasted. I want to get chocolate wasted.
So in the spirit of Grown Ups 2, what is the thing that you used to get in trouble for most as a kid?
Talking. 100%. And it's funny cuz I was kind of the teacher's pet, which is weird. This is really funny. I remember helping someone on a test, but I was doing it out of like, oh, no, you're supposed to do it like this. And I was like in maybe third grade or something and I was like, you can borrow my ruler. And then I got in detention because of it because I was helping them on the test. So it was just like, but I didn't know. I was like, oh yeah, oh sorry. I was just trying to help. And my teacher was like, you can't do that. That's they're cheating off of your work. But um, but yeah, it was definitely talking. That was kind of like my that was my my big thing. But I think honestly that probably shows that I was meant to be in in the business and meant to entertain in some way. Grown Ups 2 Clip: You're going to like this. Hi, girl. Wash it up. Extra selfie. You take these guys, we'll take the yellow car. What is happening right now? Well, I might as well enjoy this. She's my cherry pie. Cool drink of water, such a sweet surprise. Your car is filthy.
So in the film there's a there's a car wash, like a sexy car wash scene and doesn't go according to plan. I think the guys want like I've seen that. Yes, the sexy girl and it ends up being at Andy Samberg that does the car wash. But if you could have anybody be your personal car washer for a month, who would it be?
Okay, um I'm gonna say I I straight up said Obama.
You did?
Yes. I want the president to wash my car.
I like that. That's good.
Yeah. I would say Johnny Depp, but like 30 years ago. 20 years ago.
From like what era? Not 21 Jump Street era, but
Too soon? Too that's that's too early. I would say like five years after Like Pirates of the Caribbean kind of thing.
Yeah. I'm with you on that one. Yeah, I would I would really enjoy that. I feel like he'd be a terrible car washer, though.
He probably He probably. He'd have all of his bracelets like clanging all over your like car.
