"Fargo" Star Joey King on Her Cast Mates, Accents, & Dancing

Abbreviation like I don't know. I know. I just I was telling her how I thought H. M. U. meant "hold my unicorn," but obviously I was wrong. so but for the longest time I thought L. O. L. meant "lots of love" so I thought people were sending me love.

In fact, well you were in it. You were with Channing with your dad, which is beyond cool. Um, I was actually I was quoted. I was quoted They put me in your commercial film, your movie, of the trailer, cuz I wait is.

Uh-huh.

Yeah, they like boom boom boom. like "Best movie ever" Micky Novak, Young Hollywood said it was the ride of the summer. just saying. So we're sort of in the same movie. Not really. We're sort of in the same trailer.

Yes, girl.

Channing Tatum is known to have those mad dancing skills. Your dancing skills are insane.

So, it's not just like, "oh yeah, fun, crazy" No. It has to be like uh pop it and then and then you got to you got to spritz it back like that.

You know. just rolling out some moves. Chilling like nothin' but a G thing. You know what I'm saying about Young Hollywood? this is how we chill at here. Yeah, we work together on two things. On Oz the Great and Powerful and we work together on his film, The Sound and the Fury. He's kind of a genius, a marketing genius in terms of his Instagram and all of his. I actually think that he is a literal genius. Like I want to get his IQ tested, because he's just so intelligent.

Let's just keep name dropping. Colin Hanks. Let's throw that out there. From Fargo, the show you are currently on on F. X. Such a great Why is there a mistletoe? You guys never took that down since Christmas. We're not in October. Those people who don't take down their Christmas decorations. Ever. Um, so let's talk about the show. It's such a great show.

Loved the movie. Now, did you watch the movie prior to shooting the show?

Absolutely.

Had you already seen it before you were? You had. It's an amazing movie. It's a classic. I love Fargo. It is the funniest, most sick movie I've ever seen. It's the best of both worlds. I'm like so thrilled that I get to be part of the like the recreation of a TV series of it, because it's just so awesome.

So, what can you tell us about Fargo coming up?

Coming up. So many crazy things going on. We're in mid mid-season right now. It's so exciting. So many things are happening and we have so many great characters and so many great actors who are playing those characters. So, Billy Bob, I love Billy Bob Thornton. He's great. And Martin Freeman, my god. There's so many great actors on that show. I mean, Alison Tolman, this is she's really breaking out. I she hasn't done a lot. This is like her first like break out thing, and she's so amazing. She's so such a good actress. She's so sweet. Martin Freeman, I'm a huge fan of him, because I watched Sherlock and he's just He's incredible. He's just stellar, okay? There's no other way to put it. I know.

Was the accent a tough thing for you to do or no? Are you great with accents? Was it? Um Cuz you don't you guys don't go over the top like in the film. Right.

I'm pretty I'm pretty good with accents. Um, but they did have a dialect coach on set for everyone.

Did they?

So, if I had any questions or concerns, I would just go to them.

Can you do other ones?

I worked with Roland Emmerich on White House Down. And I spent three months with him, and he's German. Yeah. So, I got really good at imitating him and Roland always be like, "Oh, you have to go into corner and just like move and do your thing and" He was very He was so big with his direction. I love him. Um, he's like, "oh, just uh" He's and he always said like "kind of" cuz like, "It's like kind of like this." But when the very first thing that you hear is, "Go do your thing," you're like, "Yeah."
