I wore, I wore my brother's hand me downs and in Ashley Simpson mullet and I was the mascot.
What was mascot?
What was it?
A wildcat?
You know, That's actually not bad though.
It wasn't bad. It could have been like a pirate or something kind of crazy. What's up guys? Nikki Novak here in the Young Hollywood studio with the Radio Rebel herself, Debbie Ryan. Hi. Thank you so much for coming in. We're getting a round of applause. And okay, two first. Yes. Debbie Ryan brought us cupcakes. You read my mind. You know I'm a cupcake fiend.
Well, you and I can bond over that because I never turn down a cupcake.
And there are fans in the studio. This is a first. Kaylan, Aiden. Say hi guys. First of all, let's delve in. What what did you, because I know you were talking before we started rolling about the flavors.
Yeah, okay. So, it's just a little, this is so funny that it's such a thing. I just I never show up empty-handed. But it's so the flavors are um key lime, which is the flavor of the month.
You have to look at how beautiful these are. These are just beautiful cupcakes.
So, key lime, strawberry, red velvet, of course, which is a little bit of your rad in there. Chocolate toffee, Oreo, and Nutella.
These are I think the best looking cupcakes and sounding cupcakes I've ever seen. This is so nice of you. Like it's so nicely frosted right by it's on my way to and from work from my house. So, it's such a problem because it's like every single time I drive by, I just pretend to not know it's there. Just to make sure I know how to. No, no. That was just. Bad. Bad practice. Don't worry about it. You'll be fine. So, we have some random questions for you, your random thoughts about some things. I know you're a big vintage shopper.
Yeah.
Best purchase ever out of a vintage shop?
Oh, you know what? It's actually not a purchase. It was my um my Aunt Betty who lives in like Jupiter, Florida, and she's wonderful. She gave me this it's like a leather, it's a vintage leather and mink coat. And I would never buy mink new and I would never buy but like it's vintage and she got it vintage like 40 years ago. So, she used to get into all these music record label parties. She would like dress like it. She was like, I was like, tell me about this jacket. She's like, I essentially crashed concerts and record parties in this. I was like, I'm going to carry on that legend.
So, you'll be crashing concerts now too because I know you're fully into the music scene. You're into the music. So, that's my favorite vintage. Dream musical duo or collaboration?
Um, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals. Um this band fun, which everyone kind of knows of, but um when their first record came out, I was so excited because I was a huge fan of The Format, which was Nate Ruess's first project. Which kind of really pioneered this alt rock scene uh in Arizona and whatnot. So, a lot of my bands that I'm a fan of were like, we love The Format. So, I checked him out. He started this new record called this this new band called Fun. And um they were amazing. Their first record is is great. And their second record's great too, but I'm super hooked on the first record.
If you were to go to Subway, name of your sandwich and what would be on it?
Oh. Name my sandwich. Um it would it would have a human name. It would have a human name like Kelly or something. That's going to be fun. Um no, I I would it would just be a lot of vegetables and I like their crab salad, it's really good. Pepperonis, um yeah.
And name of your future record company?
Hm. Uh Ryan River. Ryan River or like Top Hat Tiara or or Or Cupcake Queen? That girl has a record company. Question mark. I think that's what it would be called.
You're listening to Slam FM. This is the Radio Rebel show. This is Radio Rebel live from Slam FM. I know in the film you were like you had this alter ego. Are you do you feel like you have that in your life as well?
Yeah, I do. It's funny I was very introverted growing up. Um and I I still am. There's the parts of me that just kind of want to like sit at home and avoid the world and read.
Well, I know before you when you walked in, you said this is like this place is like a party that I wouldn't have been invited to in high school and I can't imagine that.
No, you have no idea.
How is that possible? Good head cheerleader.
Once she like actually knew who I was, she hated me. So, I was the.
She was jealous of you. Let's be real here.
I wore, I wore my brother's hand me downs and in Ashley Simpson mullet and I was the mascot.
What was the mascot? What was it? A wildcat in a
It's actually not bad though.
It wasn't bad. It could have been like a pirate or something kind of crazy but yeah. So, I know you've been traveling a ton. You've been you're just in Singapore, India. You've been to Australia.
Yeah. I love to travel. I was kind of bit by the wanderlust bug when I was a little and um I lived in Germany when I was little. So, going to Italy and Paris and Prague and really seeing different cultures, I kind of there's like no going back. You have to see so much more of the world now.
And you got henna tattoos. I saw.
I did. I got a henna. They faded though. They did. Well, you know what happened? I went to um Australia right after that and I took a surf lesson and the salt water just washed it off.
So, surfing lesson was always on my bucket. I think the surf lesson would be worth having the temporary tattoos wear off. Was it great?
Yeah. And I bought it I bought a tube of henna so I could totally henna up again. I like I'm actually kind of obsessed with henna. I think I'm going to start like rocking it on the regular, like it's a thing.
And if anybody ever needs to know anything about music, fashion, TV, this is the girl. We have something for you.
Yeah. Oh, it's the DVD. I'll sign it and we can leave it away. I'll bring another one for you guys. I think these girls might want it. You guys want it? Do you girls want to come in and have a cupcake? Come sit. Come here. You're blushing. Come sit. What kind do you guys want? Strawberry, red velvet.
I want the I want the red one. We can get your red. Thank you so much for coming in.
Yeah. Of course. Thank you.
