You are South African. Yeah. Grew up in Washington State. And also in South Africa. And I guess this is a South African thing, liking marmite. Yeah. I saw on your Twitter. Okay. Woah. Woah. Why is your head not spinning 360 degrees right now? That was my Smeagol voice. That was Golem. Oh, sorry. Like that. Yeah. You know. Guys, this is like you, I'm a door. Yeah. I'm getting it. I'm really liking all of this insight to cherry blossom that we will probably never see. You'll never see it on camera. No, not on Rudale. Yeah. Please explain what marmite is.

Why Riverdale’s Madelaine Petsch

Yeah. Uh Marmite is a yeast extract which like honestly, it looks disgusting. Like I haven't had it in a couple months cuz they don't sell it here that much. So my parents have to ship it to me. Which is so funny. They live there in South Africa. My parents are in Washington. Oh, then Washington. For some reason it is in Washington and not easily here. Which is bizarre to me. Uh I probably could order it, but like whatever. Uh like KJ and I have this that we like bond over marmite all the time. Like Key West marmite too.

Young Hollywood

Okay. They do.

Why Riverdale’s Madelaine Petsch

Yeah. Yeah. Marmite's. It it brings everybody together. It brings us together.

Young Hollywood

So you put it on toast? Like what else?

Why Riverdale’s Madelaine Petsch

Yeah. Well like uh yeah, you can put it on toast. Like my mom used to make like it was a good like broth for soup cuz we were vegan. So like you can you start like a broth cuz it's so salty. So like you can do so many things with it. Like you can um yeah, it's like it's a yeast extract. So it's really great for like B vitamins and stuff like that. Like I said vitamins. That's my little bit of African is coming out. I have like five words where I do that.

Young Hollywood

So when you're in South Africa or with your relatives, does it like

Why Riverdale’s Madelaine Petsch

Yeah. My accent's back already. I'm not doing it for you though. I know you want to ask. I'm not going to do it.

Young Hollywood

But do you speak do you speak Africans?

Why Riverdale’s Madelaine Petsch

I don't. No. I only know my uncle, my little butthole uncle taught me one like one sentence. And it's like it's like foul language. South African foul language. Oh, of course. Of course. Naturally. But it's like not foul to like the the translation is like go poop in the corn, which is like No. Go poop in the corn. In the corn. Which is like not like rude, like it's not bad words here, but like there that's like a huge insult. Oh, to go to someone to go. How dare you? How Isn't that so bizarre? How dare you? That's bizarre, right? Madeline. Yeah. But also makes me laugh. It's like what? Like Cuz like can you imagine throwing that like you're in high school and you're like like someone's saying to me you're like

Young Hollywood

I wish I knew that in high school. You're welcome. You can do that now if you have a problem on the street, an altercation, you get a car accident. Just yes. Go poop in some corn. person. So you want to say in Africans so they don't know what you mean. Oh, yeah. Wait, how do you say it again?

Why Riverdale’s Madelaine Petsch

Ha cock and De De.

Young Hollywood

Okay. Serious? That's right. There it is. Yes. I just said something really foul in Africans. And that's the only Africans thing I know. Here we go. Very useful. Very useful. Yes. You said you're vegan. How long have you been vegan for? I love it. I love it. They're great. I love them. They wanted to name me Street. Street. Like a like I'm walking down the street or this is my friend Street. That's that is accurate. Both of those things are accurate. But they said but they went with Madeline. So then my mom realized it's probably not a good idea in you know 21st century America. Uh so she named me Lane. Like Lane on the road. Madeline. Madeline. I thought like a good compromise and I'm very happy she did that. In the long run. Did she call you Lane growing up?

Why Riverdale’s Madelaine Petsch

All my family calls me Lane. Wow. Yeah. Yeah. But like like now I'm I go by Mads. Like in the industry and stuff. Everyone calls me Mads.

Young Hollywood

Mads. I like that. It's very like A little more edgy. A little edgier. Yeah. Don't mess with Mads. Yeah. She'll get mad at you. She'll tell you the one phrase that you know in Africans when we do something wrong. She'll go tell you to poop in the corn. What?
