My whole life I've been able to like dance dance, like do a choreographed routine, like even free dance in a studio, like dance dance. The minute I go to a party or anything And they're like, everyone dance. I'm like, I don't like, we're someone going to teach me the dance like, I don't know how to like club slash party dance. Yeah. I'm so awkward. I mean, I don't feel I just like kind of like, I just like stand there and I'm like, yeah. Like it's so uncomfortable.
Hey guys, Audrey here at the Young Hollywood Studio with Kelly Bergland.
Hey.
A very blonde Kelly Bergland. I love this.
Thank you. Last time I was here, I was also blonde. It's like a thing.
It is. It is. Are you sticking with the blonde now? Um or only when you come here?
I I guess I've just like made a pact with myself that like I must be blonde when I come here. Um, honestly, like, okay, when I first went back to blonde, I I freaked out a little bit. I'm like, oh my god, I miss my brunette hair. What have I done? Like I always like do that immediately. And then I go back to brunette.
Naturally, what are you? You're like a
Well, I was like I was born blonde and then um, it it like faded into this weird like blondish brown. It's more like on the dirty. Yeah, it's kind of like that. Like more on the brown, like just like an ashy brown kind of. Um, so I either like dye my hair very dark brown or do this. I don't like the in-between. So I just go from one end of the spectrum to the other.
I mean, it looks great on you. Uh, speaking of your roots in a different sense. We were just bonding because we're pretty much from like the same home.
From the 805.
805. I I'm so happy to hear that you're from the 805. It's like thrilling to me because I don't meet very many people in this town. Even if they've been here for a while and I talk about like Moorpark where I'm from, or Thousand Oaks. They're like, which is where I'm from. They're like, I I don't know. I've like heard of Thousand Oaks, but I don't know what what a Moorpark is.
What in Moorpark is? people actually say that.
Well yeah, I'm like it's what's a Moorpark? So what is a Moorpark?
It's like the tiniest town where everyone knows each other. And there's an In-N-Out. And that's like what I wanted to ask you.
So you know, everyone knows you from Disney's Lab Rats and the spin-off. You're you're super tight with Paris Berelc.
Yeah, she's like um, one of my best friends and we were like best friends before we even started the spin-off, which was great. Cuz you know, I've been working with boys for four years. And they're like, throwing a girl into the mix. And I'm like, thank god I like this girl because like I've just heard so many things on other shows where like the girls don't get along. That's not how it is, like with us. It's great. She's awesome.
And what do you guys do offset when you have time?
Um, shop a lot. Um, she's like so like she's such like a planner. She always loves to like text me and be like, hey, we're we're having this thing at my house or like I'm planning a beach day or I'm planning this and that. I'm like, okay, great. Like I'm not going to do that, but I'll join. Like she's just such like a little I know, just send me the details. And I'm like, just invite me. Like I'm not going to plan this, but like I'll go. Like when you go shopping with your girlfriend, it's it's kind of like tricky territory. Because we all have that girlfriend who's just like, just buy it. Just do it. I'm probably that one. I'm probably like, why not? I have friends where I go shopping and they tell me not to. They're like, Kelly, you don't need that. I'm like, yeah, I do. Like don't tell me what I need in my closet.
What was the last thing that you that you purchased that that your friends told you you didn't need?
Oh, there's this pair. Okay, there's a pair of shoes. I had some people telling me to buy it because I texted like 10 different people like, should I buy these shoes? And they were like kind of expensive. Okay. Um, what are we talking like? Um, maybe in the above 300 range, which isn't horrible, but it's more than what I spend on an average day. Um, but with shoes, I love to splurge. That's like the one thing. I really just I'm like, I don't care.
And a lot of people don't know this, but you actually started out as a dancer.
Yeah.
You still dance?
I do actually, not as much as I did. Um, I started dancing when I was like 5 years old. Okay. Um, my mom was a dancer growing up too. So it just kind of like runs in the family. And my little sister is an amazing dancer. But I started off dancing and I was a competition dancer and that was like what I dedicated my life to. Yeah. Um, and then yeah, I started acting and it was still in my life. I still went to classes, but I couldn't really compete anymore just cuz like I have a full-time job. Now I just I try to take dance classes when I can and for years, like I wanted to and just never did. I was just so caught up in my work and I was busy. But now I've taken the time to go do it again. And Yeah. It's really nice and I've realized how much I need it because I am so winded after every class. I'm like, oh my god. Like, this is not as easy as it was before, but it's really nice cuz I'm not like a gym person really. Okay. Like I'd much rather go to take a dance class and do what I love and get an insane like cardio workout.
Do you have a go-to dance move? Like when you're in the clubs or, you know, at a party?
partying in the glove I just break out into like pirouettes and like jetés. I don't know. Like that's the thing. My whole life I've been able to like dance dance, like do a choreographed routine, like even free dance in a studio, like dance dance.
Sure.
The minute I go to a party or anything and they're like, everyone dance. I'm like, I don't like, we're someone going to teach me the dance like, I don't know how to like club slash party dance. Yeah. I'm so awkward. I mean, I don't feel like I just like kind of like I just like stand there and I'm like, yeah. Like it's so uncomfortable. That's why I don't like to go to clubs and stuff. I don't know if I'm really into it. I'll just like I don't know. I'm like, this is now a bad time to like break into full-on, like you shimmy.
There's never a bad time to shimmy.
But I would say that's like my go-to, which is really sad, but
No, I like it. I'm I'm with I'm with you. I'm the shimmier in the dance party as well.
I'm the awkward one. I thought everyone's like, I thought you were a dancer. I'm like, I'm not right now. I'm like, I am. What are you talking about? I'm like, I'm at the studio and I'll be a dancer, but right now I'm just an awkward like string bean.
A lot of your fans tweeted at me when they found out that that you were coming in. Okay. So, uh, Karen asks, what is your favorite movie?
Oh gosh. Um, I love the movie Silver Linings Playbook just cuz it has not only Jennifer Lawrence, but Bradley Cooper who's like one of my favorite, favorite, favorite actors. And it's like such a crazy role kind of. It's very interesting. I I've talked about this before. Like I would love to do a role that's very challenging, which I feel like Bradley Cooper's role in that movie is very specific and very challenging cuz he has like kind of these mental illnesses and stuff. It's like you have to study that, you have to like adapt to that. It's very interesting. Like I would love to have that challenge um, with a role. And the story is just so like raw and like I don't know, I just really love that film.
Jojo asks, uh any advice for a girl who isn't confident with themselves?
Be confident. Like I don't know. It's it depends. I mean, there's so many different like insecurities that people have and like I don't know in this case what it is exactly. But I had someone tell me this one time. It's like don't be afraid to pat yourself on the back. Like you're society has kind of like put this thing in our heads where it's like if you want to feel good about yourself and be proud of what you're doing, like that's bad and that's conceited. And like that self-assurance and like that, you know what, I am doing good right now. And I I want to go out and do this. And I'm going to do it and like I'm super happy for myself for doing that. I think people are very afraid to like realize the good things about themselves and what they're doing. So like, I don't know. That's like my advice. Be proud of yourself. Like don't be afraid. Like and if you want to do something and you're afraid to because people are going to think that you're cocky or people are going to think like, oh she's trying too hard. Like it doesn't matter. Like be happy for yourself. You're allowed to.
Natasha asks, uh, which boy are you closest with onset in the way? Not in the way of dating, but friends.
Funny you say this. I was going to bring this up when we were talking about the 805 thing. Oh.
Please. More 805 talk.
Yeah. Bradley Steven Perry.
So we got super, super, super close. Not in that way. But just like he's from Thousand Oaks. And everyone else in the cast is not from California. So we bonded over that immediately.
I'm telling you this 805 thing is very like interlinking. I am We're going to be like BFFs after this. We're going to go to the food court at the mall.
Exactly. So he grew up in Thousand Oaks. So onset 24/7. Like Jake, Paris and Billy are so annoyed with us all the time cuz they're always like, do you want to go to the Cone in the TO Mall? Like it's just like and they have no idea what we're talking about. And it's just so funny. And every time I'm like driving through Thousand Oaks, not, okay, I'm not Snapchat and drive. But if I'm parked, I'm like sending him like a Snapchat with a Thousand Oaks filter. I'm like, hey, I like You're a fellow 805er.
Love that he's a fellow 805er. So I guess I will see you at the food court at the mall.
Exactly. Ta-Cone. Meet you there.
I'll I'll see you. We'll we'll make plans after this. I'll plan it since you're not much of a planner. Uh yeah. Um, Kelly, you are such a delight. Uh, should we shimmy out of this interview? I think we should.
See you later. See you later, guys. Am I awkward? I'm supposed to look awkward cuz that's what I do.
Oh, I'll awkward you any day.
