Hey guys, Audrey in the Young Hollywood Studio.
Joining me on the couch.
Berkeley Duffield from Freeform's Beyond.
Yes.
And in here fresh from Vancouver.
Yeah.
You flew just all the way out for this, right?
I did.
Came down for you.
Thanks for having me.
Yeah, you're welcome.
You're welcome.
Uh I'm intrigued by this show by the way.
Good.
Uh oh, okay.
It's what we want.
Yeah.
It has like an almost like a lost feel, I wanna say where I feel like we're just peeling back the layers.
Um give me like the reader's digest version of what's going on in the show.
Absolutely.
So, uh the show centers around my character Holden and he wakes up unbelievably from a coma after being in for 12 years and is fine.
He gets up.
He's physically totally ready to go and mentally though, he's stuck 12 years ago as like he was when he was 13.
And everything that he's known has changed.
His family has changed.
His city has changed and everything that was his reality is different.
And on top of that, he now has these supernatural abilities that he is coming to terms with.
When it comes to binging on shows, do you have a show?
The last show that I binged, let's see.
Uh I I know I binged the whole season of Stranger Things.
I know that was I think front to back.
I think that was the last show.
Oh.
I love watching episodes, you know, sort of periodically in sort of one sort of contained area but I think the whole season was definitely.
Yeah, that was that was a good one.
That was one that I a very intense sort of sci-fi show that I love.
Nice.
Are you a fan of sci-fi?
I mean, being on this show
Always have.
Absolutely.
It's such a it's a cool you get to explore a lot of sort of cool elements to, you know, bringing something that's maybe other worldly or sort of supernatural into a real world aspect, which is what we explore in our show too.
And it's uh to be able to admire a genre and then be in a show that is in that genre is it's so cool.
So you're a geek.
I swear I'm not.
A little bit.
I know.
Maybe.
Keep it between us.
This is the safe couch.
Oh, it is.
Yeah.
These weren't even on.
Like what yeah.
No, no.
But your sister is also in the biz.
She is.
She's a singer.
Uh is it weird to have a sibling who who does something similar to you, not quite the same, but you you're both in the spotlight.
Yeah.
You're both, you know, in front of the camera, so to speak.
Is there any sibling rivalry?
Uh, I'd say sort of fun competitive rivalry.
Yes.
There is.
Maybe.
Oh.
Uh it's it's cool.
I mean, we we both uh are we're we're very close knit family, so we encourage each other a lot.
But it it is it is fun to be able to see sort of each other, you know, excel and and sort of as you said, similar industries, but sort of different.
And she's in the rising part of her career and is it's very different to the writing to the performing and all of her recording aspects, whereas me, it's, you know, filming and, you know, putting it on TV.
So it it's it's cool to be able to support and have a sibling understand the sort of artistic sort of industry that you're in.
Um your first acting job, correct me if I'm wrong, you did a commercial for Cheese Nips.
First one was McDonald's actually.
Oh, McDonald's.
I'm sorry.
I saw.
But I did do a Cheese Nips commercial as well.
Oh, okay.
I did.
Uh yeah.
I mean, it's
What do you remember from from those early acting experiences?
I'm curious.
It was I mean, it it was cool.
I'd always loved drama and musical theater and and performing and growing up and when I sort of stumbled into starting to do commercials and stuff like that to be able to see that I could do that sort of stuff in a career-based setting.
You know what I mean?
It was something I'd never thought.
So I only take away fond memories.
It it's fun and you get to do there short days, you know, not short days, but shorter shoots of, you know, a couple days, one to three and you get to go in and have fun and meet new people and be in front of a camera.
You get to eat food.
Oh, yeah.
Sometimes it's more than you bargain for.
Do you actually eat it or do you just like eat it and spit it out?
Oh, yeah.
Sometimes it's more than you bargain for in certain situations.
But hey, it's part of the job.
I can eat.
So it's good.
Well, I want to play a little game with you because uh Beyond is set kind of Holden's life 12 years after after he goes into this coma.
Right.
So I wanna play a game called Future Trip.
Okay.
So, we're gonna talk about what the world is gonna be like in 12 years.
I'll watch it.
How how we would how we imagine this.
Okay.
So, in 12 years Uh what will be our main mode of transportation?
I gotta I gotta keep my fingers crossed for the flying cars.
I'm with you.
Because I feel like there's less traffic up there than down down, you know.
Totally.
I mean.
It's not.
There's more areas that you could go.
Who will be the president of the United States?
In 12 years?
12 years.
Yeah.
Uh I I mean, I think you're a great candidate if you feel like you want to take on the
Thank you.
Presidential election.
Do you wanna be my campaign manager?
Campaign.
I I could do that.
Press Secretary.
You know what I mean?
I do have superpowers sometimes so that could help us.
I feel like it'd help a lot.
Uh where will fellow Canadian Justin Bieber be?
Ooh.
In 12 years.
12 years.
Yeah.
Well, I feel like he's coming in and out of sort of his, you know, he's he's had some troubles in the past.
So I feel like I think he's going to I'm gonna say he's cleaned up his act.
I think he's gonna be an outstanding citizen.
Sure.
Repping Canadians.
Totally.
Yeah.
I think it's gonna be Yeah.
He might have some chest here by that time.
Maybe.
Maybe.
Who knows?
Anything's possible.
Yeah, anything is possible.
And where will you be in 12 years?
On the road.
Either that or who knows?
I mean, I I love my job.
Um I would love to just, you know, be acting and hopefully season 12 of Beyond.
I think it's really what we're looking forward to.
I like that.
I like that.
Well, if it doesn't work out, welcome to my campaign.
Thank you.
Thank you.
I'm glad you made this official.
Yes.
Very good.
Yes.
This is awesome.
Thanks so much.
Thank you.
